DFS NASCAR DraftKings Lineup Advice: Dover Speedway Picks 6/4/17
The Monster Energy Series heads to Dover, Delaware to race at the Dover International Speedway. This 1-mile concrete oval with 24 degree banking is more affectionately known as the “Monster Mile”. This will be the first of two NASCAR races at this short track. Track position is important for success at Dover, as well as pit road stall location like at Bristol Motor Speedway. Last week at the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, Austin Dillon scored his first ever Monster Energy Cup Series win by gambling on a fuel strategy while holding off a fast charging Kyle Busch. The same fuel strategy doomed race leader Jimmie Johnson, who ran out of fuel with two laps to go.
My Top 5 Drivers for the AAA 400 Driver For Autism
Kyle Busch($10,400): As I mentioned in the opening paragraph, track position is important for Dover, and Kyle Busch qualified for the coveted pole position. Last week he had a very fast car, but ran out of laps to catch race winner Austin Dillon in Charlotte. Busch has been snake-bitten all year-long, with almost wins, and moral victories. He won the All Star race two weeks ago, so he is almost there. This race could be the one where he wins it all and gets that guaranteed playoff spot. Kyle Busch finished 2nd in the Dover Fall race last year.
Martin Truex Jr.($9,900): Truex Jr. qualified right behind Kyle Busch, but is $500 cheaper in value which makes him more attractive to use in lineups in my opinion. Also, he finished 3rd, right behind Kyle Busch in last week’s Charlotte race where he led a whopping 233 out of the 400 laps. He has been the hottest driver lately, and is on top of the Monster Energy Cup championship points standings. And, if you needed more data, he won last Fall’s Dover race.
Kyle Larson($10,300): Larson is a must start every week. He is very consistent and a contender in each race this year. His car is very fast this week, as he had the fastest car in the first practice and qualified in the 5th position. In last year’s Spring Dover race, Larson finished 2nd and led 85 of the 400 laps.
Matt Kenseth($9,500): Kenseth may be highly owned with his price of $9,500. He has a fast car this week by qualifying in the 4th position and running with the 2nd fastest car in the first practice right behind teammate Kyle Busch. Kenseth has finished in the Top 10 in six out of the last seven races in Dover, with nailing a victory in last year’s Spring race. He is a must start in your lineups this week.
Jimmie Johnson($10,600): Johnson is the most expensive driver this week. His car has been average thus far in Dover, but by qualifying 15th, he gives you some place differential upside as he can easily finish in the Top 3. He finished 7th in last year’s Fall Dover race, leading 90 of the 400 laps. But his most impressive stat at this race track is that he has won this race an astounding ten times in his career.
Value Picks
Daniel Suarez($7,100): At this price, Suarez can easily fit in all of your cash and GPP lineups. He qualified 3rd, and ran in the Top 10 in the first practice. Joe Gibbs Racing cars have been fast this week as Suarez’s teammates Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth have also been flying in practice and in qualifying.
Dale Earnhardt Jr($7,800): Dale Jr. has had a tough year and has torched many DFS lineups this year with this sub-par performances. So, its easy to be gun-shy and fade him. However, he has had a fast car this week, and qualified just outside the Top 10 in the 11th position. Dale Jr has one win, seven Top 5’s, and twelve Top 10’s at Dover and he is a great value at $7,800.
Sleeper Pick
Chase Elliott($9,600): Elliott has run into some trouble this past month after having a great start to the season. In his last four starts, his best finish has been 24th. With this current slump, he will be lowly owned and forgotten. On the bright side of things, in his only two races at Dover in his young career, he has finished in 3rd place for both of them.
