MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 6/21/2017

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!
Top Plays
Max Scherzer
Scherzer is on the early slate, but if you’re playing that slate, Scherzer is a lock. He doesn’t have a great matchup considering the Marlins have quite a few lefties and strike out just 20.1% of the time. The Marlins are 15th in wRC+ against righties and Scherzer has a OTT of 3.5. I’m not excited to play Scherzer for $14,100 on DraftKings, but I don’t see how you can avoid it. He’s averaging 39.56 DK points per game over his last five.
Jose Berrios
Berrios is the most expensive pitcher on the main slate. I like him, but he isn’t safe. He’ll face the White Sox who are 25th in wRC+ and strike out at the 9th highest rate against righties, but the ballpark is a hitter park. I’m nervous to pay that high price for Berrios, and would normally reserve this for tournaments only, but he has the lowest OTT on the main slate and is the biggest favorite. He might be in consideration for cash games, but I’ll be watching lineups closely.
Coors Bats
As of now, I’m not paying for Berrios so I’ll have plenty of salary to pay for bats. The Rockies have the highest team projection on the slate against Taijuan Walker. Nolan Arenado is the top option from the Rockies, but there is a value third baseman who I’m interested in as well. Right now, I have Arenado and Carlos Gonzalez in my cash game lineup. From the Diamondbacks side, Paul Goldschmidt is expensive, but he’s locked into my cash game lineup. Charlie Blackmon, David Peralta, Jake Lamb, and Trevor Story are all solid tournament plays.
Brian Dozier/Miguel Sano
The Twins will face David Holmberg in Target Field. Dozier is also locked into my cash game lineup. He’s leading off, has the platoon advantage, and the Twins have a team run total of 5.5. My debate for cash games is whether to pay for Arenado, or save with Sano. Sano is underpriced at $3,900 and makes a great tournament play if I decide against using him in cash.
Notes
James Paxton and Justin Verlander both make solid SP2 options for the main slate, and you could pair them together if you don’t want to pay for Berrios.
The top home run projections come from the Yankees’ power hitters. Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge are fantastic tournament plays and it’s very possible to get to Judge into your cash game lineups as well.
Yasmani Grandal is significantly underpriced at $2,800 on DraftKings. He’s a lock in cash games.
The pitching chart will be updated often. Make sure to check back for the newest information, especially if a column is currently incomplete!
