MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 7/31/2017

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!
Top Plays
Luis Severino
Severino will face the Tigers in Yankee Stadium. He’s the highest priced pitcher, but with few solid options, I like Severino in both cash games and tournaments. The Tigers are in the middle of the league in both strikeout rate and wRC+. It’s not a great ballpark, but Severino has the lowest OTT on the entire slate. The Tigers lineup is full of righties, so Severino should have the platoon advantage against the majority of the lineup. With a 27.9% strikeout rate this year, Severino provides safety in cash games and plenty of upside in tournaments.
Gio Gonzalez
Gonzalez has pitched well this year and is priced at $11,200. That’s more than I typically want to pay for him, but I’m considering him in cash games due to the lack of other options. He gets a park up grade traveling to Marlins Park, but the Marlins are solid against lefties. Gonzalez has the second lowest OTT on the slate, and doesn’t give up many home runs, so hopefully he can strike out enough Marlins to pay off his price tag.
Freddie Freeman
If you’re playing the all day slate, Freeman is the top overall hitter today at $4,700 on DraftKings. He’ll face Nick Pivetta and his 1.91 HR/9 in Citizens Bank Park. Freeman has the second highest home run projection on the slate, and should be a major part of the Braves 4.5 team run total. I usually use Freeman at third base, but I’ve plugged him into my first base slot in my cash game lineup today.
Blue Jays Bats
The Blue Jays will face James Shields in Guaranteed Rate Field. Shields has given up 2.13 HR/9 this season, and most of the Blue Jays bats are way too cheap. Russell Martin, Josh Donaldson, and Jose Bautista are cash game locks, while Justin Smoak, and Kendrys Morales are in strong consideration. The Blue Jays are tied for the highest team run total on the slate and have the highest team home run projection. A Blue Jays stack is viable in tournaments, and I currently have four Blue Jays bats in cash games.
Nelson Cruz/Robinson Cano/Mariners
Cruz and Cano are priced under $4,000 on DraftKings and will face Cole Hamels in Globe Life Park. These two bats are priced as if Hamels is still and ace, not the current version of Hamels who has a 5.03 SIERA. I’m locking Cruz and Cano into my cash game lineup and considering Jean Segura and Danny Valencia. The Mariners have a team run total of five, second highest on the slate. Adding Kyle Seager to a full Mariners stack is my favorite stack of the day and should be under owned on this slate.
Notes
It doesn’t feel safe clicking Marco Estrada, but my current cash game lineup has Estrada as my SP2.
