MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 8/14/2017

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!
Top Plays
Jose Quintana
Quintana is finally priced as a true ace and is the highest priced pitcher on the slate. He’s the largest favorite on the slate, and has a high strikeout rate this season at 25.4%. He’ll face the Reds who rank 20th in wRC+ against lefties. The Reds also strike out 20.9% of the time, 12th highest rate in the league. Quintana is the top option on the slate, and is a solid SP1 in cash games.
Kevin Gausman
Gausman has flashed some upside lately, scoring 20+ DK points in seven of his last ten games. I was high on Gausman to start the year, but he struggled out of the gate. Gausman has pitched much better lately, and while he still has his hiccups, I like his upside for $8,500 on DraftKings. The Mariners are a solid offense, but there aren’t that many solid pitching options on the slate. I may reserve Gausman for tournaments, but I’ll at least consider him for cash games.
Jerad Eickhoff
Eickoff will face the Padres in Petco Park. He’ll get a park upgrade and faces a Padres team that strikes out 25.2% of the time against righties. The Padres also rank just 24th in wRC+. Eickhoff is tied for the second lowest OTT on the slate, and with the Padres’ high strikeout rate, Eickhoff looks like a solid option for both cash games and tournaments.
Coors Bats
Today is a day to load up on Coors bats in cash games. Julio Teheran struggles against lefties giving up a 5.61 xFIP them this season. I’m locking both Charlie Blackmon and Carlos Gonzalez into my cash game lineup. While Nolan Arenado is always a solid play in Coors, I prefer Freddie Freeman at third base. It’s possible to play Freeman at first base and Arenado at third for tournaments, but it doesn’t seem like an ideal cash game move. If Tyler Flowers and Brandon Phillips are in the lineup, they are also locks in my cash game lineups. They are simply too cheap for Coors Field and will be strong values.
Corey Dickerson/Lucas Duda/Rays
Outside of Coors, my favorite players come from the Rays. The Rays will face Nick Tepesch in the Rogers Centre. The Rays get a big park upgrade and should be able to take advantage of a quality matchup. They’re priced cheap enough to use as a complimentary stack to Coors bats. Dickerson, Duda, Steven Sousa, and Logan Morrison are all in consideration for cash games and make up my favorite tournament stack of the day. Each of those four hitters are priced between $3,500 and $3,700, allowing you to still fit in some high priced pitchers or bats. I like the flexibility and the upside the Rays bats provide.
Notes
Jharel Cotton isn’t safe, but he has enough upside to warrant consideration at only $5,500 on DraftKings.
