DFS NASCAR DraftKings Lineup Advice: Bristol Motor Speedway Picks 8/19/17

With only 3 races to go before the playoffs, the Monster Energy Cup Series travels to Bristol, Tennessee for the prestigious and intense Saturday Night race. Arguably, this is the Driver’s 3rd favorite race to win and have on their resume, behind the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400.   This half mile short track brings intense and tight racing which generates some bumping and conflict, flaring short tempers among the Monster Energy Cup drivers.

Top 5 Drivers for the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race

Kevin Harvick($9,800):  Harvick is a beast at Bristol.    He won this night race last year, and lead 128 of the 500 laps.  Earlier in the year, he finished 3rd in the Bristol April race.    Harvick has struggled in the past two weeks at Michigan and Watkins Glen, but look for him to bounce back at Bristol Motor Speedway with a possible win and a highly probably Top 5 finish.

Martin Truex Jr.($10,700):   Truex does not historical perform well at Bristol as his average finish in his last five races is 20.40.   However, Truex has been very consistent and dominant all year-long in almost every race.    He is tops in Championship points and Playoff Points(earned by winning stages), won the most stages and won the most races this year.    In the Spring race this year, he led 116 laps and finished 8th, but it was a race he should have won.

Denny Hamlin($9,600):   Hamlin shows up in my rankings in the Top 5.   In his last 5 races at Bristol, he has two Top 5 finishes.  In the Spring race earlier this year, he started 16th but finished 10th.  The Toyota’s have been fast in the past couple of months, so Hamlin is a great choice to get some Toyota exposure in your lineups.

Joey Logano($9,000):  Like I say every week, Team Penske is desperate to get Logano a win.   The #22 Ford Fusion didn’t perform well last week at Michigan, where Ford cars traditionally do well to defend Ford Racing’s home turf.   In the Spring race, Logano had a great showing, finishing 5th.   In the past five races at Bristol, he has one win, two Top 5’s, and three Top 10’s.   This may be his best chance to get a win for that automatic qualifier for the playoffs with only three races to go in the regular season.

Kyle Larson($10,500):  The Bristol night race is perfect for Larson’s aggressive style.   He can magically weave his way from the back to the front in any race as Ganassi Racing has provided him with a great car every week.   He will be an expensive option like Truex, but he will definitely perform well, lead some laps and could find his way to Victory Lane.   Larson led 202 of the 500 Laps in the April Bristol race but finished 7th.   However, his average running position was 3.48 in that race.

Value Picks

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.($7,700):   Stenhouse loves Bristol Motor Speedway.  With two wins this year, he can be a force on any given race.  In his last five races at Bristol, he has two Top 5’s with an average finishing position of 10.40.   In the Spring race, he finished 9th after starting 19th.   He is a great value under $8,000.

Kasey Kahne($7,400):    I like Kahne at this price to find value for your lineups.   He is good for a Top 20 finish like in his last five races at Bristol.   Kahne did find victory lane in the Bristol Spring race in 2013.   In the first practice session this week, Kahne had the 3rd fastest car.

Sleeper Pick

Erik Jones($8,700):  Jones had his best race of the year last week at his home track of Michigan with a 3rd place finish.   In his only Monster Energy Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Jones finished 17th, but his average running position was 8.38, so he was running in the Top 10 for most of the race.   Like Logano, Jones needs a win to make the playoffs and could ride his latest momentum into victory lane.
