MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 8/30/2017

Last Updated: 8/30/2017 – 7:21 AM CT

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!

Top Plays

Dallas Keuchel

Keuchel will face the Rangers, and even though this is technically a “home” game for the Astros, Keuchel gets a bit of a park upgrade as this game has been relocated to Tropicana Field. The Rangers have the 5th highest strikeout percentage in the league against lefties and have a wRC+ in the bottom third of the league. Keuchel the highest priced pitcher on the main slate, but the park upgrade and the matchup make him a solid cash game option and a great GPP option.

Stephen Strasburg

Strasburg faces the Marlins in Nationals Park. He has the lowest OTT on the slate and is the second largest favorite. While it’s possible Giancarlo Stanton continues his home run binge, the Marlins only rank in the middle of the league in wRC+ against righties. If you’re playing the early slate or all-day slate, give Strasburg strong consideration.

GPP options

DraftKings did a good job placing the best pitching options at uncomfortable prices. I like Carlos Martinez, Robbie Ray, and Jose Berrios, but not at their prices. They are all priced $1,000-$2,000 too high for me to want to use in cash games, but I want to play all three considering their matchups. I don’t see many lower priced options I like, so I may end up playing more GPPs than usual and creating combinations of Keuchel, Strasburg, Martinez, Ray, and Berrios.

Early Slate Bats

If you’re playing the early slate, many of the top bats will come from the Coors Field game. Miguel Cabrera and Carlos Gonzalez are both risky given they’ve been pulled or scratched from the lineup recently, but if they are in the lineup, they are too cheap and likely worth the risk. At a shallow short stop position, Trevor Story is another player who is too cheap and will be hard to avoid in cash games.

Outside of Coors Field, I like Mariners lefties against Ubaldo Jimenez. Robinson Cano will be a lock in my cash games. Kyle Seager is a solid option, but to play Seager, you have to pass on Nolan Arenado which is always difficult. Mitch Haniger is cheap enough to be a solid outfield punt and is a great option for about the same DraftKings price if Carlos Gonzalez would be out of the lineup.

Main Slate Bats

Brian Dozier faces Derek Holland in Target Field. Dozier is one of the most frustrating guys to roster, and I always seem to get him wrong, but this is a fantastic matchup against a weak lefty. Dozier projects for almost two points more than the next closest second baseman so he is locked into my lineups.

It’s a day to pay for pitching, so we will have to look for some punts. I don’t want to pick on Jose Quintana, but Andrew McCutchen is sitting there for $3,400 in a solid park for hitters. Assuming the wind isn’t blowing in, I like McCutchen for his price.

Wil Myers is also way too cheap. He’ll face Ty Blach in Petco Park and is only $3,300. Myers is the best value play on the entire slate and even though he’s been cold, this is too good of a price to pass up if you’re paying for pitching.
