NFL DFS Week 7: Bottom of the Barrel (Draftkings & Fanduel)

Sometimes real life gets in the way of our fantasy life. The number one rule here is fun. Fantasy football and DFS should always be fun. If not, what’s the point? Our days are filled with decisions and choices. Each day is also filled with tons of opportunity. The fun part is choosing which opportunity to take, paired with limit of risk! Along the way we need to find balance. Easier said then done right? That’s the trap I fell into recently, too heavy on one end and lacking on the other. I had to sit down and assess the situation and assess the risk. Writing for you and a reputable site has long been a dream of mine. On the other hand, my newest job working in the substance abuse field has also been tops on that list.

If you’re like me, which I know a lot of you are, you want it all. I want my cake AND to eat it too. Well folks as an adult sometimes that isn’t possible. Or is it? If its something you want bad enough you’ll adapt, assess the risk and make a decision. That’s what I did here. I did three important things.

First, I set goals in all areas of my life. Do I want to win a million dollars playing DFS? Uh, sure but is that realistic? I have a better chance of flying to the moon than setting the perfect fantasy football lineup. My goals are all realistic and within reason.

Second, I had to be willing to take the risk. Full disclose here, I never took the initiative to write or pursue the career I wanted due to my insecurities. “No way anyone will want to read what I write” I told myself. Or, “Ah, I won’t put in an application at this job, I won’t be hired anyway.” Without trying, we will never know. Enter that $25 contest! Take the risk!

Last and most important, I make time to reassess my life on a daily basis! If I’m too into myself or the opposite, too low on myself, how can I function? Am I doing everything I can to be a productive member of society? Am I all get and no give?

This article started as a never ending quest for daily fantasy football advice, but I’ve combined it with a philosophical twist. In an odd way Bottom of the Barrel incorporates all three ideals I practice. Setting goals, taking risk and reassessing my life on a weekly basis. In order to be successful in DFS we need to be right within as well.

Week 7 of the NFL season is upon us and we must be ready! Each week it gets harder and harder to wade through the injuries and depth charts. Winning lineups are becoming more diverse. The usual cast of winning characters aren’t what they used to be! Set a goal, assess the risk then take that proverbially leap of faith! Have no fear! Bottom of the Barrel week 7 is here!

Even I had a chuckle and spit out my coffee when listing these week 7 QB’s! Isn’t that what Bottom of the Barrel is all about?

Josh McCown NYJ @ MIA (FD-$7,000)(DK-$5,200)
Listen friends, McCown is a cheap serviceable QB who went nuts at home vs. NE. I’m riding the streak and here’s hoping he keeps it going. Are you willing to take the risk??

Carson Palmer ARZ @ LAR (FD-$7,000)(DK-$6,600)
Carson had a 81.8% competition rate last week! He looked fantastic! If the addition of AP is any glimpse of what’s to come for this offense then I’m all in.

Brett Hundley GB vs. NO (FD-$6,500)(DK-$5,100)
Well, what can I say? Aaron looks to be done for the season. The world still spins and we still have to make a roster. I’ve assessed the situation and I’m taking a risk with Brett this week.

C.J. Beathard SF vs. DAL (FD-$6,300)(DK-$4,900)
I’m famous for telling you all to zig when other zag right? This is more like flip and roll over 17 times into a ditch. Doesn’t sound half bad.

It’s at this point of the season we can start finding great value in the skill positions. It’s easier to see how the touches and carries may go. The RB position is no different. I have found several RB2’s just waiting to become RB1’s. Are they worth the risk?

Derrick Henry TEN @ CLE (FD-$5,600)(DK-$5,500)
It’s tough to guess who will eat most in the TEN backfield right? Murray is still the RB1 BUT Sunday in CLE they BOTH feast!

Marlon Mack IND vs. JAC (FD-$5,300)(DK-$4,100)
Everything is set up for him to have a great week at a dirt cheap price. Turbin is out, Gore is just there and the Jaguars are ranked 31st vs. the rush. Mack and cheese for me this week!

Isaiah Crowell CLE vs. TEN (FD-$5,100)(DK-$4,000)
Nothing witty to say here, just a gut feeling he finds a rhythm here and scores.

Charles Sims TB @ BUF (FD-$4,700)(DK-$3,500)
Sims has 9 receptions the past two games. Call me crazy but if Jameis Winston doesn’t play and its Fitz at QB I like Sims more!!!

Devontae Booker DEN @ LAC (FD-$4,600)(DK-$3,500)
The DEN offense is looking for ways to get him involved. I like that. He’s also lining up at WR. I like that. Another RB2ish poised to grab hold of lead back duties!

The group of WR’s listed this week fit’s the Bottom of the Barrel ideal. These guys are exactly what I envisioned at the onset of each article. Bunch of lowly listed WR who are dirt cheap, with potential to score.

Marquise Goodwin SF vs. DAL (FD-$5,000)(DK-$3,900)
He’s averaging 17.4 yards per receptions. He’s TD dependent yes, but this week vs. DAL it may get ugly. Which means beautiful for us and garbage time!

Adam Humphries TB @ BUF (FD-$4,800)(DK-$4,200)
Is this guy turning into a solid PPR play? He has 6 receptions in 3 of his last 4 games. Again, if Ryan Fitzpatrick is the QB Sunday I like Adam even more! Told you I’m nuts!

Cole Beasley DAL @ SF (FD-$4,600)(DK-$5,000)
I can see a whole lot of Cole this week in SF. A little screen or two, maybe a reverse? Regardless, he will find room Sunday against SF!

Kasen Williams CLE vs. TEN (FD-$4,500)(DK-$3,400)
With no Kenny Britt Kasen has caught 8 passes the last two weeks combined. I know I know its nothing special BUT for bottom of the barrel prices you could do worse.

TE is the same ole same ole. I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face, finding value at TE is my best approach. Unless its Gronk vs. the Jets I’m not paying up at TE. EVER!

Hunter Henry LAC vs. DEN (FD-$5,200)(DK-$4,200)
He’s a little rich for my blood BUT this guy is picking up steam. He’s a terror up the seam. He’s big and fast!

Austin Hooper ATL @ NE (FD-$5,000)(DK-$4,100)
Ah ha! A Super Bowl re-match! All bets are off in this one. NE stinks on defense. ATL has lots of weapons that need defending. Hooper gets loose a time or two!

George Kittle SF vs. DAL (FD-$4,800)(DK-$3,600)
SF new starting QB C.J. Beathard and Kittle are old college buddies! They played together at Iowa! I’m seeing sneaky green! Maybe a Kittle/Beathard stack?!

It’s that time folks! Rest time, stretch time or as I call it, KICKER time! Put on some Cotton Eye Joe and I’ll see at DST!

Nick Novak LAC vs. DEN (FD-$4,500)

Randy Bullock CIN @ PIT (FD-$4,500)

Adam Vinatieri IND vs. JAC (FD-$4,500)

Connor Barth CHI vs. CAR (FD-$4,500)

Aaaaaaaaand we’re back! Thanks for keeping pace! If you’re an avid reader of B&B then you know the importance I place on DST. It is one of the positions on your roster you must nail if you want to hit big. I do my best to crunch the numbers and gibe it to you straight. If you notice as the week wind winds down and we get closer to Sunday several teams always emerge. I try and keep ahead of the curve. Keep your ear to the streets and give these DST’s a try!

New Orleans Saints NO @ GB (FD-$4,500)(DK-$3,000)
No Aaron Rodgers this week in GB, it’s worth a shot right? Simple risk/reward ideal here!

Pittsburgh Steelers PIT vs. CIN (FD-$4,500)(DK-$3,200)
This game has all the makings of a turnover riddled FG battle.

New York Jets NYJ @ MIA (FD-$4,400)(DK-$3,000)
Jay Cutler stinks and the Dolphins offense is in the tank. What’s not to like here? The only knock could be they are IN MIA. So what.

Cincinnati Bengals CIN @ PIT (FD-$4,300)(DK-$2,500)
One of those DST plays that has everything to do with the opposing team. Ben doesn’t look right. The PIT offense is meh, strike while the iron’s hot!

That’s it kind people. Well, I put pen to paper then word to computer to provide you with this list. This list of football players if used right, may help you win big!
If you set realistic goals for Sunday and beyond while assessing the risk involved you should do fine!

Here’s what I’m rolling with Sunday, a starting point if you will.
