Fantasy Football Week 9 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

It’s another full bye week in Week 9, with six teams idle (Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers). Streaming is always a viable strategy, but this week it’s likely to be widely adopted again as fantasy owners plunge the depth of their rosters.

So here are your quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 9.

Quarterback: Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills at New York Jets (Thursday Night)

Taylor has now gone four straight games without multiple touchdown passes, but rushing yardage in Week 7 (53 yards) and a rushing touchdown has helped him to 40.72 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) over the last two weeks.

Taylor had 262 total yards and two touchdown passes against the New York Jets back in Week 1, and he’ll get a rematch in Week 9. The Jets have allowed multiple passing touchdowns in six of eight games this season, including four straight with over 250 yards allowed through the air and multiple passing touchdowns allowed. The Jets have also allowed the fourth-most rushing yards to quarterbacks so far this season.

Taylor is still pretty widely available, and he has a solid matchup this week. If you’re a Tom Brady or Philip Rivers owner, here’s your bye week fill in if Taylor is available in your league.

Others To Consider: Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams at New York Giants; Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans; Drew Stanton, Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers; Jay Cutler, Miami Dolphins vs. Oakland Raiders

Tight End: Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans

In Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Doyle had 12 receptions (on 14 targets) for 121 yards and a touchdown. He has gotten double-digit targets in two of the last three games, with at least seven targets and five catches in four straight games.

The Houston Texans have allowed three touchdowns to tight ends over the last two games, and before that Rob Gronkowski (eight receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown-Week 3) and Travis Kelce (eight catches for 98 yards-Week 5) had success against them.

Doyle is not on the talent level of Gronk or Kelce, but he is a prominent target for Jacoby Brissett in a favorable matchup. A Week 9 streamer could turn into your TE1 for the rest of the season.

Others To Consider: Tyler Kroft, Cincinnati Bengals at Jacksonville Jaguars; Vernon Davis, Washington Redskins at Seattle Seahawks; Jared Cook, Oakland Raiders at Miami Dolphins; George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals

Team Defense: Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers

Going into their Week 8 bye, the Cardinals allowed at least 27 points in three straight games (more than 30 twice). But they did force multiple turnovers in all three games, and they’ll have a get-right opportunity against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9.

In Week 4 against the 49ers, the Cardinals allowed 15 points with three sacks and an interception. That was with Brian Hoyer starting, and over the last two games with rookie C.J. Beathard starting under center San Francisco has put up a total of 20 points while allowing nine sacks.

Beathard is expected to start on Sunday, rather than new acquisition Jimmy Garoppolo. So the Cardinals’ defense is a solid streaming bet for Week 9.
