Pay Me No Mind: Sports and Entertainment 360
So, how are you coming along with 100% more characters per tweet at your disposal on Twitter? Uh huh…
This episode of Pay Me No Mind is… a lot of entertainment and a good deal of sports – plus The Broke Team’s super lightweight contender Adrian Granados (18-6-2, 12 KOs) of Cicero, Illinois.
The guest list:
Adrian Granados @ 1:13:25
Keith Thurman & Errol Spence Jr (presser audio) @ 1:21:37
Tha Boxing Voice‘s Adam Sperber @ 1:33:54
In this episode’s first hour we revisit JamRoc (Jamla Records & Roc Nation) recording artist Rapsody’s recent release Laila’s Wisdom – now that Jayare’s had a chance to lab the LP. We also discuss Buffalo, NY’s Griselda Records team of brothers Conway The Machine and Westside Gunn, and Benny regarding whether their partnership with Eminem’s Shady Records will blossom like when Em signed 50 Cent. And more importantly, why is Gunn’s Flygod no longer available on iTunes?
Other intro entertainment topics include upcoming movies releases (Denzel Washington’s Roman J. Israel, ESQ), as well as an in-depth look at HBO’s latest David Simon EP’d series The Deuce. Which The Wire alums came up as a cast member of the new show?
Sports! It’s been awhile since we talked through all of ’em… Wood runs through a little CFB and B1G talk, breaks down Lonzo Ball’s problematic shooting form and renewed interest in the NBA, the death of two-time Cy Young winner Roy “Doc” Halladay, some Washington Redskins chatter plus dueling Cowboys (Primetime & Romo), and lastly boxing’s explosive yet disappointing Deontay Wilder vs Bermane Stiverne 2 card.
TBV’s Sperber is in NYC covering Daniel Jacobs vs Luis Arias which is Matchroom Boxing’s first US card… So, Sperber recently sat down with Eddie Hearn and has the inside scoop on “the road to” Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder. Wood and Adam also chop up an analysis of Joshua-Wilder on fight night, and take a look this weekend’s bout between Jacobs and Arias. Plus, Jacobs has surprisingly now called out one half of one of the baddest tandems in all of boxing?
The determined Adrian “El Tigre” Granados, unfortunately, wasn’t able to upset “Showtime” Shawn Porter in their welterweight title eliminator on the co-main event from last Saturday night’s Wilder vs Stiverne 2 card. Wood was able to speak with Granados ahead of his bout with Porter, so check out why the super lightweight competed for the WBC Silver welterweight title – and a mandatory date with unified champ Keith Thurman.
