2018 NFL Draft: Buffalo Bills 7 Round Mock

**These selections are all based off a scenario where The Buffalo Bills do not trade for QB Nick Foles which could very well happen. I’m not convinced that even The Bills themselves see newly acquired QB A.J. McCarron as the answer given his lack of career productivity.

Rd. 1 No. 5: After trading both of their original first rd. selections to move up The Buffalo Bills select: RB Saquon Barkley Penn State. Yes, I know The Bills already have LeSean McCoy on their roster and might draft a QB here. (It’s a mock for a reason.) That being said a youth movement at this position should be a priority for what’s arguably the second most important position on offense.

Image result for RB BarkleyBarkley and McCoy would form a dangerous one-two punch and then Barkley is more than capable of taking over as the starter if/when McCoy is past his prime. I know that the New York Giants and quite possibly some other teams have interest in drafting Barkley. That being said I see him failing to pick 10 due to the insane amount of defensive talent in this years draft class. Last year Barkley rushed for 1,271 yards and 18 Tds and is arguably the best back in the draft this year.

Rd. 2 No. 53: WR D.J. Chark LSU. The Buffalo Bills need better pass-catching options. WR Jordan Matthews didn’t last long. Chark could become a day 1 starter as has the potential to be a good starter in the NFL. I don’t know if he’s a number one WR. The Potentials there, but he’s better than anyone they currently have on their roster. last year Chark caught 40 passes for 875 yards and 3 Tds which is not eye-popping but the potential is there as he stands at 6ft 3 187 lbs.

Rd. 2 No. 56: The Buffalo Bills trade this selection to Cleveland Browns for WR Josh Gordon and a 2019 5th rd. pick. Gordon has certainly had his issues off the field, but when on the field is a top 10 NFL WR which is something that The Bills desperately need.

Rd. 3 No. 65: CB Ronald Darby reunion! The Buffalo Bills trade this selection to The Philadelphia Eagles for former Bill CB Ronald Darby and a 2019 5th rd. pick. The Bills know Darby well and are in need of a good CB2 and slot corner which are both roles Darby can fill. He’s coming off a good season with the Philadelphia Eagles. So why is Darby available? The Philadelphia Eagles have CB Sidney Jones coming back healthy, Jalen Mills, and recently traded for CB/S Darryl Worley which makes Darby the odd man out as Sidney Jones is expected to start on the outside this upcoming season. This is a good draft day trade that works well for both teams.

Rd: 3 No. 96: LB Josey Jewell Iowa. Josey’s stats are off the charts. He had a tremendous college career at Iowa with 13.5 sacks but ran a 4.72 40 at the combine which I see lowering his stock. I’ve run a faster 40 time and I’m a failed minor league pitcher turned pretty good writer. That being said while he may become a coverage liability he’s a great run stuffer and a heck of an athlete that is just a little slow.

Image result for LB JoseyIt’s hard to project Josey, but my gut is telling me he’ll be good in the NFL like he was in college. The Bills will obviously focus on his upside which is enormous. He reminds me of LB Kyle Ogletree who is a very good overall LB that is average in pass defense.

Rd. 4 No. 121: The Buffalo Bills trade this selection to The Miami Dolphins for WR Kenny Stills. I don’t know if Stills is the player he once was. last year wasn’t his best season. That being said he’s put up 2 years of good production in The NFL (one excellent year with The saints were he caught 9 TD passes) and is worth the risk for a late-round pick.

Rd. 5 No. 158: QB Mike White Western Kentucky. White doesn’t have elite arm strength but he has nearly everything else teams look for in a QB. He is a good leader with a good amount of upside who I believe can start in the NFL a couple years down the road. At worst he should be a better backup QB than Nathan Peterson. He finished his college career with 63 TD passes to just 15 interceptions.

Rd 5 No 167: OG Sam Jones Arizona State: Jones is an athletic and quick interior lineman who had a quality 2017 season for Arizona State. As a sophomore, he saw some action at left tackle, and for the NFL, he might be better off moving to center. Jones will need to get bigger and stronger for taking on NFL defensive linemen. He probably should have returned to Arizona State to develop, but Jones decided to enter the 2018 NFL Draft.
