DFS NBA FanDuel Lineup Advice 4/22/18
DFS NBA FanDuel Lineup 4/22/18
Welcome to the rare Sunday edition of my NBA DFS advice column. Hopefully, you read yesterday’s edition because if you did, you should be happy today. I’m kicking myself for one bad call in my lineup that may have cost me another $100-plus. In yesterday’s column, I recommended Derrick Rose at $3,600, but I ended up going with Shabazz Napier over Rose in my lineup. Napier didn’t even play a single minute and Rose had 25 FanDuel points. As I write this, I’m second place in all my double-ups and I’m comfortably cashing in GPPsl, despite Napier’s big fat zero. Had I taken my own advice and gone Rose, those 25 points would have vaulted me up the standings.
No sense crying over spilled milk, I guess I should be happy that I cashed at all with a player getting zero, but still…
Okay, on to today’s slate. We have four games once again to look at and these particular group of teams typically offer more value than the teams that played yesterday. Let’s get to it…
Point Guard
NBA DFS Legend
Nothing But Net | My top plays of the night at his position. |
Dunk | A Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside. |
Half-Court Shot | Otherwise known as a “punt play.” A Low-priced, high-upside player. |
Blocked Shot | A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.” |
Nothing But Net | John Wall $10,500 vs TOR
Okay, I think it’s time to concede and pay up for Wall. After his second 60-plus Fanduel point game in Game 3, I’m willing to eat crow and say I was wrong to fade him.
Dunk | Kyle Lowry $8,200 $8,200
Truthfully, I think Lowry is overpriced at $8,200, but the point guard position is so bad he will likely have the second highest amount of FanDuel points at the position today.
Half-Court Shot | Quinn Cook $4,200 @ SA
After lighting it up in the regular season for a stretch when Steph Curry was out, Cook has been less than spectacular in the playoffs. I think his price has fallen enough for me to take a risk on him in a closeout game that will likely turn into a blowout.
Blocked Shot | Darren Collison $6,100

Victor Oladipo did most of the ball-handling in Game 3, despite being double-teamed on nearly every play. Collison is the odd man out if that trend continues today.

Shooting Guard

Blocked Shot | A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.” |
Nothing But Net | Bradley Beal $7,900
I’m going back to Beal again tonight. I recommended him a few nights ago, and it paid off handsomely. As I said then, Beal is a much better player at home than on the road.
Dunk | Klay Thompson $6,500 @ SAS
This is another case of a shallow position. I don’t really love Thompson, but I don’t really hate him either, so gets the “Dunk of the day” at shooting guard.
Half-Court Shot |Jordan Clarkson $3,600 @ IND
This is another one of those blindfolded half court shots. Yesterday it was Ryan Anderson, which paid off, today we have Clarkson. The Cavs have to find some offense outside of LeBron James, and looking at this team there aren’t many guys that can create their own shot. Clarkson, however, is one of the players that can, and they will need him to do just that if the Cavs want to avoid going down three one in this series.
Blocked Shot | Victor Oladipo $9,800 vs CLE
The Cavs refused to let Oladipo beat them the other night. They double-teamed him on every pick-and-roll, forcing him to give it up. The Pacers made the adjustment, and at one point they seem to be inviting the double-team to set up their offense to get the “other guy” an open shot. If they do that again, Oladipo will become a passer and not the aggressive scorer we want.
Honorable Mentions: DeMar DeRozan $8,500
Small Forward

Blocked Shot | A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.” |
Nothing But Net | LeBron James $12,200 @ IND
He needs to be 100 percent owned on today’s slate.
Dunk | Andre Iguodala $4,700 @ SAS
Iggy took a bit of a step back in Game 3 from what he need in Game 2, but in a closeout game, knowing the Pels are home resting and waiting for them, Iggy will come up big to get the sweep.
Half-Court Shot | OG Anunoby $3,500 @ WAS
Once again, I can’t figure out why his price hasn’t increased, even slightly. He has hit over five-times value in three straight games and there is no reason to believe he can’t do it again.
Blocked Shot | Bojan Bogdanovic $5,600 vs CLE
Don’t chase the points. Don’t do it. You’re probably going to do it, aren’t you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Honorable Mentions: Kevin Durant $10,900

Nothing But Net | LaMarcus Aldridge $9,500 vs GSW
The only top-tier option on the slate at power forward. I doubt I’m going to payup for him, but if I were to payup, it would only be to roster LMA.
Dunk | Draymond Green $7,600 @ SAS
If the Spurs couldn’t play inspired ball after the passing of their coaches wife, then this game will likely be a blowout too. Green typically is the last starter off the floor in blowouts and should be able to more than payoff his releatively low salary.
Half-Court Shot | Mike Scott $3,800 @ WAS
They increased Mike Scott’s price but not OG Anunoby? Scott has played pretty well in this series and despite the price increase, should be able to give a decent ROI (return on investment).
Blocked Shot | Kevin Love $7,700 @ IND
Nothing about Kevin Love right now inspires any confidence for me to roster him.

Nothing But Net | Jonas Valanciunas $6,000
Ugh, I wish I didn’t have to play a center. Valanciunas is the “best of the worst” at center today.
Dunk | Myles Turner $6,000
…because there is literally no one else worth rostering.
Half-Court Shot | Ian Mahinmi $3,600
In limited time, Mahinmi has been more effective than Gortat. Hopefully, the coaches see that too and give him a few more minutes.
Blocked Shot | I want to fade the entire position
