MLB DFS DraftKings GPP Lineup Advice: 6/6/18

There are 10 games scheduled on the DraftKings this evening and there are no clear paths for pitching options. Of the 20 teams playing tonight, five different clubs have an implied run total over five. There are a lot of great hitting options which will steer us in the direction to pay down for pitchers. Let’s take a look at some GPP pitchers and stacks.

Pitchers

Jose Quintana (CHC): $8,800 vs. PHI
One of the more volatile starting pitchers on the season, Quintana has put together five great games and four awful games. Targeting Philly last night did not go over all that well, but attacking this team again is definitely worth the risk. They are still without Rhys Hoskins and leave a lot to be desired. There are plenty of strikeouts throughout the lineup and we have to think that the “good” Jose Quintana shows up for this start.

Caleb Ferguson (LAD): $7,100 @ PIT
Although more of a FanDuel option, Caleb Ferguson is an extremely talented young pitcher with a huge strikeout arm. With four Dodger starters on the DL, Los Angels have had to bring up their young pitching prospects. The price on DraftKings makes Ferguson a GPP option only because there will likely be a strict pitch count limit on this young 21-year-old. The Pirates are ice cold and still play in of the best pitcher-friendly ballparks.

Hitting Stacks

Boston Red Sox
The highest implied run total of the night goes to Boston, at 5.32, against Detroit. Lefty Blaine Hardy will take the mound against a powerful, right-handed heavy, Red Sox team. J.D. Martinez is the first hitter to smack 20 homers and is in a great spot to keep the streak going. This stack will come in at high ownership, but they are a great core to build around and get lower ownership elsewhere.

Colorado Rockies
When they are on the road, the Rockies ownership drastically drops. With just a 4.51 implied run total, they should still go somewhat overlooked. The Rockies will see Sal Romano who owns a .405 wOBA to left-handed hitters, making Charlie Blackmon an absolute elite play. With players like Mike Trout, Andrew Benintendi, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and J.D. Martinez to pay up for, I feel like Blackmon and the other expensive Rockies will go low-owned in a fantastic matchup.

Toronto Blue Jays
Stacking the Blue Jays is only viable in massive GPP tournaments. From what I have heard, a lot of sites are touting Sonny Gray tonight. The reason being, he throws a slider and the Jays are terrible at hitting this pitch. However, this is a different team. The top four hitters in this lineup are either left-handed or switch hitters. This will be harder for the slider to be as effective. If Sonny Gray comes in as chalk, the Blue Jays stack will be a great leverage option. We have seen “bad Sonny Gray” this season, including a start against the Blue Jays where he allowed five hits, five runs, four walks, through three innings. I don’t have a ton of confidence in this recommendation, especially if Austin Romine starts this game, but there is game theory reasoning to stack this team if we play multiple lineups.
