MLB DFS GPP DraftKings Lineup Advice: 7/9/18

Tonight’s main-slate has just nine games scheduled in the MLB. There are a few top-tier pitching options, headlined by Gerrit Cole, to go along with some great hitting stacks.
Paying down at starting pitcher has proven to be a much better strategy for most of the year, however, tonight there is a lot to be desired below $8,000. Let’s take a look at some of the best GPP players in this slate.

Pitchers

Mike Clevinger (CLE): $11,500 vs. CIN
Rounding out the top four starting pitchers tonight, Mike Clevinger is by far the least expensive. Having a very good 2018 season, the Indians starter owns a 7-3 record and above average 22.2% K rate. The Reds will gain the DH as they switch to the American League, but the bottom half of this lineup has been dreadful all season long. After the top five hitters, there are plenty of easy outs. The Indians will provide plenty of run support to lock in the win as well.

Eduardo Rodriguez (BOS): $8,400 vs. TEX
The Red Sox starter has already wrapped up 10 wins this season and will look to improve this evening against the Texas Rangers. Texas strikes out a lot as a team, 24.6% in 2018 (fourth highest). E-Rod has improved his K rate throughout the season and has shown dominant performances. With the lack of inexpensive pitching options, Rodriguez grades out as one of the top point-per-dollar starters taking the mound tonight.

Hitting Stacks

Boston Red Sox
Mike Minor will toe the rubber in Fenway this evening and is in for a tough outing. Boston is one of the best offensive teams in the MLB and has some strong power-hitters who will have the platoon advantage. Not only is Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez elite options, but Steve Pearce will likely get the nod to hit high in the lineup.

Cleveland Indians
Cleveland has a 5.79 implied run total tonight as they are set to face Anthony DeSclafani. The Reds starter struggles to both left and right-handed hitters, owning a wOBA over .340 to both. As we have discussed, Cleveland has one of the harder lineups to navigate through in the MLB. Not only do they have power/speed throughout their lineup, but they have a healthy mix of both right and left-handed hitters.

Minnesota Twins
The Twins busted out on offense yesterday, scoring 10 runs against the Baltimore Orioles. Tonight, they will get another great matchup at home. Danny Duffy will try to shut down this hot Twins team who should go overlooked. The left-handed hitters in this Twins lineup are very good at hitting lefties and so are the power hitting righties. People are finally starting to realize that Danny Duffy is not as good as he used to be. He has become much more home run prone and his BB/9 is way up from last year.
