MLB DFS DraftKings GPP Lineup Advice: Tuesday (7/10/18)

All 30 MLB teams are scheduled to play this evening, making it a massive DFS slate. We have everything. Aces at the top, gas cans at the bottom, and of course, Coors Field. There is a lot to break down, so let’s get into it!

Pitchers

Rich Hill (LAD): $8,600 @ SD
With so many great, expensive hitting options, saving salary at the starting pitching position will be key. Although both Trevor Bauer and Justin Verlander are firmly in play and should have great outings, the savings of $5,000 will allow you to pay up $625 at each hitting position. The difference in fantasy production between Hill and either ace at the top is not large enough (in my opinion) to the pedigree of hitters you can afford at each position. The San Diego Padres have the third highest K% against left-handed pitchers and playing in a very pitcher-friendly park. Hill should dominate this Padres team, assuming he can stay healthy and go deep.

Enyel De Los Santos (PHI): $7,500 @ NYM
In a spot start, the Phillies pitching prospect has been called up to face a terrible Mets team. In Triple-A, De Los Santos has been amazing with a 1.89 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 8.21 K/9, and 9-3 record through 95.1 innings. There are few matchups better than this one, where the Mets have been awful at home. They have a league-worst wOBA with the third lowest ISO in the MLB when playing at Citi Field. I think the price is pretty high for a rookie with 0 MLB experience, which is very intriguing for ownership percentage this evening.

Hitting Stacks

Boston Red Sox / New York Yankees
These two teams are nearly identical in terms of the top stacks of the night. I have grouped them together because they do not need much analysis. Both teams have extremely potent offenses and are very expensive to roster. They should be among the highest owned, but on a 15-game slate, it should not be a concern. Simply put, if you can afford them, lock them in.

LA Dodgers
Still, one of my favorite teams to stack, the Dodgers once again come into this evening with a great matchup against Eric Lauer. The Padres starter is having a rough season with a low K% and high BB%. He has given up a lot of power to fellow right-handed hitters but can get hit hard by lefties. The Dodgers lineup has improved drastically since the return of Justin Turner. Enrique Hernandez is a lefty masher and comes with a reasonable price tag. The park isn’t great for hitters, but with Lauer on the mound, there should be plenty of offense.

St. Louis Cardinals
The Cards travel to Chicago where they gain the DH and will face White Sox starter, Dylan Covey. Of the starting pitchers going tonight, Covey owns the second highest BB rate at 4.29%. When looking at stacks, targeting pitchers with high walk rates is very important. This ensures the hitters are on base early and often with plenty of RBI opportunities. With a 5.09 implied run total, Vegas expects St. Louis to put up runs in this great matchup.

Coors Field
There are few opportunities where we can fade the best hitting environment. Tonight might be one of those nights. Both Patrick Corbin and Tyler Anderson are respectable pitchers who can limit the damage to offenses. Even though Corbin is a lefty (Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado have insane numbers against LHP), he has a 46.8% ground ball rate. We could easily see runs scored in this game, but with the high price tag attached to the hitters, there are much better viable options. I am fading Coors altogether but understand the risk.
