MLB DFS Pitcher Article 8/12 (DK and FD)

In-depth analysis of the starting pitchers on Sunday, August 12, 2018 (8/12) MAIN SLATE to help you build winning cash game and tournament lineups on Draftkings and FanDuel.

TOP PLAYS

Carlos Carrasco (CLE) @ WSOX: 11.1DK, 10.5FD

Carlos has the highest upside on the slate. He has posted 4 straight quality starts with 8 or more strikeouts in all 4. Now he gets to face a White Sox team that he dominated with 11 strikeouts back in June.  Over the past month, the White Sox have the highest K rate vs righties at 26%.  Carlos is sporting a 28% k rate vs lefties and a 27% k rate vs righties.

Noah Syndergaard (NYM) @ MIA: 10.7DK, 9.3FD

Noah gets to face the Marlins who just shipped off their best power left-handed bat to the Phillies (Justin Bour). Miami is just awful. They have a 23% k rate vs righties and an awful 111 iso over the last month. Noah has a 25% k rate vs lefties and a 26% k rate vs lefties. He also is only giving up a ridiculously low 22% hard contact to both sides.

Matt Boyd (DET) vs MIN: 6.8DK, 7.4FD

Matt has the pleasure of facing off vs the Twins, who are by far the worst team in the majors vs left-handed pitching. Over the past month, they have a 24% k rate, and an awful 065 iso. Matt has a 25% k rate vs lefties and a 21% k rate vs righties. He is my favorite point per dollar pitcher on the slate and would be a perfect pairing in cash games with one of the pitchers listed above.

VALUE/PUNT OPTION

Wei-Yin Chen (MIA) vs NYM: 5.5DK, 6FD

Chen has been a completely different pitcher at home this season than on the road.  He has a FIP of 3.35 at home and 7.17 away. He now gets to face the Mets at home. Over the past month, they have an awful 26% k rate and 114 iso vs lefties. There is always risk with a pitcher priced this low, but I’m willing to take a shot here, based on Chen’s history at home combined with the great matchup.
