Fantasy Football: Positional Streamers week 4

Quarterbacks

Ryan Fitzpatrick-NYJ

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be telling you to stream a sub par QB into what was expected to be a top 10 defense. However, over the last 2 weeks the Dolphins defense has looked soft, from the secondary all the way down to the defensive line.

I like Fitzpatrick this week, but, there will be better streaming options. The reality here is, at any point this year, the Dolphins can start playing defense again and giving offenses a headache.

Tyrod Taylor-BUF

He gets a matchup against a shaky Giants defense. Taylor has been leading this offense up and down the field against much better defenses than the Giants. His ball placement has been on the mark and his ability to score points with his legs should be too much for the G-men to handle.

I do have concerns about how effective he can be if Sammy Watkins misses the game. It’s way to early to say whether he is going to play or not, but, its worth noting he exited week 3 with an injury.

Even without Watkins in the lineup, Taylor, is still a solid play against the Giants.

Derek Carr-OAK

Derek Carr has looked very good to start the season. He is developing into a decent QB1 and his offense is growing with him.
This week, he gets a matchup against a terrible Bears defense. They have been a leaky defense against QBs and I’m expecting some big numbers to come out of this matchup.

The Bears can’t sustain any pressure on the QB and it is exposing their secondary.I’m starting Carr with confidence this week and calling him the stream of the week at the QB position.

Blake Bortles-JAX

Blake Bortles did not look like a streaming option this week as he could barely move his offense against a weak Patriots secondary. It is concerning, but, I’m not ready to give up on him in another good matchup. Some of it can be chalked off to a well coached and confusing Patriot defensive front.

This week he gets a Colts defense that just can’t stop anybody this year. The Colts have one of the worst secondaries in the league. Allen Robinson should give this defense more than they bargained for. I would expect a bounce back game here from Bortles.

Brandon Weeden-DAL

It isn’t very fun watching Brandon Weeden run this offense. The conservative approach they took in week 3 worked to their advantage and helped him post some points in the first 3 quarters of his first game.

There is definite risk with this grab, but, some of us are going to have to take risks to get much needed wins. So if other options are off the wire, take a swing with Weeden.

Tight end

Charles Clay-BUF

He didn’t look good in the pre season and his lack luster play has carried over to the opening weeks of the regular season. He is a good enough player to take advantage of a good matchup.

The Giants defense hasn’t really stopped anything offenses have thrown at them to start the year. Charles Clay should get some opportunities to make plays in this game and even a chance at a touchdown.

Mychal Rivera-OAK

The Raiders haven’t used the TE much this year. So there is risk associated with starting a Raiders TE, but, Rivera gets a solid matchup this week in the Bears.

The Bears defense is an embarrassment to the legacy that is the Chicago Bears. For the rest of the year, if you have a guy playing the Bears, just start them and forget them. Furthermore, his sister is hot, so there’s that.

Defense

Oakland Raiders

It is still unclear whether Jay Cutler will be available this week. Due to his history of letting down Bears fans, by either playing like a bush leaguer, or just missing lots of games, because he is soft. Whether we like it or not, the Bears offense is far worse if Jimmy Clausen is the QB.

With no Jay Cutler, this Bears offense is a streamers dream. I see no reason why that should change this week.
