2019 Way Too Early Breakouts: Quarterbacks (#fantasyfootball)

Ah, yes it is that time again in the NFL world. You may think that I am talking about the upcoming NFL Draft that always brings new prospects, and starts to the league. Or you may think that I am talking about the key offseason signings that were made by many teams, and with that happening allows us to see closer to what the NFL opening week rosters will be.

Although those events are undoubtedly fun and exciting, I am actually talking about the time where myself and, I’m sure, countless others begin reminiscing about the previous years’ fantasy leagues we were all in, and the excitement that comes with the new season on the ever-distant horizon.

Whether you came off a last-place finish last year, or you were on the outside of the playoffs looking in, or you made the playoffs but came up short of the championship glory, or perhaps you came out on top of all of your league mates and took home the gold. The fact is that we all want to win in 2019 and if you did happen to win your league you want to repeat that.

So we will take a look at three breakout quarterbacks to help guide you to the championship in 2019 and show your fellow league-mates who is truly the best of the best.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Miami Dolphins

2018 saw the emergence of league MVP Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots come out on top as Super Bowl Champions once again, and of course FitzMagic!
As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw their starting quarterback Jameis Winston have to sit out for the first three games after a suspension was dealt out to him by the NFL.

But back up quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was ready for it and prepared, as he lit up the New Orlean Saints defense in Week One throwing for 417 yards, four passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and a whopping 42.28 fantasy points while guiding the Bucs to a 48-40 win.

But now Fitzpatrick will be trying to reignite his magic in Miami as the Miami Dolphins signed Fitzpatrick to a two-year deal worth 11 million dollars.

With his new starting gig, I believe he will be a productive fantasy quarterback. In 2018 Fitzpatrick played in eight games, in four out of the eight games he played in Fitzpatrick put up more than 24 points. Fitzpatrick also only went under ten points in two games which is when he was replaced by Jameis Winston mid game.

While this season unless the Dolphins draft a quarterback in the NFL Draft it seems unlikely for him to be benched, as according to ESPN the Dolphins backups are Jake Rudock and Luke Falk who are nowhere near as big as a threat as Jameis Winston.

Look for good production from Fitzpatrick especially if many fantasy owners overlook him.

Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears burst onto the scene in 2018 coming to a field goal away from advancing to the NFC divisional round. This surge was lead by the Bears insanely good defense but was also complemented by a good Matt Nagy offense with Mitchell Trubisky at the helm and the likes of Tarik Cohen catching passes out of the backfield, Jordan Howard as a power runner, and Allen Robinson and rookie at the time Anthony Miller.

Now coming into 2019 the Bears will look to avenge their 2018 season and it should and will start with Trubisky. With Anthony Miller developing and progressing coming into his second year, and everyone in the offense learning Nagy’s system more and more, things look bright for Trubisky and the Bears.

Trubisky boasted a 3,223 yard and 24 passing touchdowns season last year as well as his ever-dangerous scrambling game when he picked up 421 yards and three touchdowns.
Trubisky is due for an incline and is worth a spot on your fantasy roster.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys first half of the 2018 season sure did start off shaky, going 3-4. But after the acquiring of wide receiver, Amari Cooper things skyrocketed and got much better. The Cowboys were able to turn things around from 3-4 to then go 7-2 in the second half and finish the season 10-6 and first place in the NFC East.

Prescott was much better with Cooper there, and the Cowboys will also have Michael Gallup entering his second year, Cole Beasley, and Randall Cobb who will be joining the team after signing his new contract with the Cowboys. Then, of course, there is always the monster on the Cowboys who is Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott is always a major force and will help Prescott immensely in 2019.

In 2018 Prescott put up 285.86 points, and with the steady progression of Cowboys players and the already formidable and established players on offense, I expect Prescott to have a very good season and end up being a top five or ten quarterback in terms of fantasy production.
