FanDuel MLB DFS Advice 4/7/2019

Sunday often poses the threat of players resting, but it opens doors for great value plays. The slate is pretty big, so you will have to be a little more picky on where you spend your salary. I will provide a lock and value at each of the areas so that you can combine them as you wish.

Pitcher Lock

Max Scherzer (WAS) $11,900 @ NYM

Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer is a lock for obvious reasons. He has a rediculous 14.92 K/9 so far this year, and is averaging 48 fantasy points per game. He has put up these number without winning either of his first two starts which if he were to win would only give him more points. Scherzer is a great play, but for his price you have to stay under $2,900 average salary for the rest of your team. If you find value at the other positions then feel free to go this route, but I will be going cheaper at pitcher.

Pitcher Value Play

Brad Keller (KC) $7,600 @ DET

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Brad Keller has a pretty good looking matchup against a mediocre Detroit Tigers team. Keller is averaging 37 fantasy points per game, and has gone six and seven innings in his two starts. There is also a slight wind blowing in that may not make a huge difference, but definitely could help hold up some fly balls. Keller probably wont blow away many hitters, but he’s a ground ball pitcher that manages to add a few strikeouts as well. He has a much better price tag with only a slight hit on production.

Infielder Locks

(3B) Anthony Rendon (WAS) $4,500 @ NYM

Washington Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon has been on fire lately. He’s averaging 19.54 fantasy points per game. Pair that with his .357 career average against Zack Wheeler in 28 at-bats and you have a recipe for success. Stacking Rendon with Ryan Zimmerman at first base could be an affordable option that provides a safe floor with good upside. You could go slightly cheaper at third base, but you will give up some consistency. Rendon is safe in cash lineups, but has good upside for GPP lineups as well.

Outfielder Locks

Ryan Braun (MIL) $3,500 vs CHI

Yes, Ryan Braun was on this list yesterday. Yes, he needs to be in your lineup again today after hitting a home run and picking up three more RBI against the cubs. Braun is an above average hitter against off-speed pitches which will come in handy against Chicago Cubs start Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks loves his off-speed pitches, and if Braun can be patient like he has in the past he can get a double or two and a home run. He should be put in a position to pick up some RBI and score some runs as the Cubs bullpen continues to struggle.

Andrew McCutchen (PHI) $4,500 vs MIN

There are other outfielders that could have made this list as a lock, but Andrew McCutchen should offer more value than the top few outfielders in this slate. He does draw a tough matchup against Jose Berrios, but the Phillies offense has been hot enough that they should get to him soon enough to bring in the bullpen. He already has eight runs and five RBI with two home runs. McCutchen currently has a .419 wOBA. If you pay up at the pitcher position you may want to go a little further down the list for someone with an easier matchup that is cheap, but if you take value at pitcher you should stack up your outfield.

Outfielder Values

Michael Conforto (NYM) $2,900 vs WAS

Michael Conforto has a great value for this slate. He should be low owned going up against Max Scherzer. He has plenty of strike outs against him, but he has also been successful against him. In 26 at-bats he has four home runs and a 1.149 OPS. While BvP needs to be taken with a grain of salt, he would be a great contrarian play to Scherzer if he could get yo points while hurting all of those who started Scherzer.
