DraftKings Value Plays- NFL Week 3 (9/22/19)

Week 2 mostly saw the values perform decent but not great. We also had a major dud (thanks T.J. Hockenson). The injury curse appears to continue for the values as Josh Jacobs and Tyrell Williams appear to be pretty banged up. I promise, I am not doing it on purpose.

There was MASSIVE injuries in week 2 that change the NFL landscape and provide tons of value as we move into week 3. Plenty of ways to go with this, especially at QB and WR, I will only touch on a few.

Please note, a ton can (and will) change between article posting and kickoff, follow me on Twitter for all my thoughts on additional value coming and going before lineups lock.

QUARTERBACK

Kyle Allen ($4,000), Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals:

Plenty of value QB options: Mason Rudolph, Teddy Bridgewater and *shudder* Josh Rosen to name a few. I will spend my time scraping the bottom of the price barrel. I do not recall a QB being this cheap ever. It appears an almost certainty Allen gets the nod against a Cardinals defense we know isn’t very good and will go at a fast pace. Allen performed well in a meaningless week 17 last year and the Panthers offense is geared to get the ball in playmakers hands and let them do their thing. Kyle might struggle, but at only $4,000 he doesn’t have to do much to return value.

RUNNING BACK

Frank Gore ($4,400), Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Cincinnati Bengals:

Another injury situation to monitor is Devin Singletary. By most accounts, he will be sitting this one out. Which means we can activate Mr. Father Time himself. Frank Gore isn’t the sexiest of names when it comes to upside but he should be the lead back against a porous run defense in a game the Bills are projected to win. He is more a cash game play than GPP since his ceiling is lower than most but he offers 20+ touch upside at a small cost.

WIDE RECEIVER

Devin Smith ($4,400), Dallas Cowboys vs. Miami Dolphins:

Devin should be the de-facto #2 receiver against a horrid Miami defense. Shutdown corner Xavien Howard should match-up with Amari Cooper which should raise Devin’s target projection. Even if this game turns into a blowout, Devin should see plenty of burn as he isn’t the most vital to the Cowboys Super Bowl aspirations.

Nelson Agholor ($3,600), Mack Hollins ($3,200), and J.J Arcega-Whiteside ($3,500) Philadelphia Eagles vs Detroit Lions:

A 3-for-1 exclusive for you ladies and gentlemen. With the injuries to Desean Jackson, Alshon Jeffrey, and Dallas Goedert, all three of these guys are viable for me. Agholor is the cash game option and should be popular but don’t sleep on Hollins or JJAW in GPP’s. Pay attention to the news as Darius Slay is the Lions only competent cover man, if we get word he is shadowing someone, I will gladly pivot to the other two.

TIGHT END

Austin Hooper ($3,600), Atlanta Falcons vs. Indianapolis Colts:

Mr. Hooper heads on the road as an underdog and faces a team that has given up plays to the tight end position over the last year and a half. The risk is always there with Austin as there are plenty of mouths to feed on this offense but we have seen him blow up for massive totals in the past. I expect the Colts to do whatever it takes to take away Julio which should open up opportunity for Hooper.

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS

Los Angeles Chargers ($2,500) vs. Houston Texans:

A friendly reminder we don’t shy away from potent offenses when it comes to selecting a defense. We look for opportunity and this game presents itself for the Chargers defense. They are a home favorite and playing a QB/O-Line that is prone to giving up sacks. Add to this the Texans should lean on the pass game; it opens up more opportunity for big plays by the Chargers defense. With all the value on the slate and great defensive options up top, I don’t know if we have to go here but they offer an interesting pivot spot.
