The Game Plan For Week 4 (#FantasyFootball)
Fine readers of the Going For 2 fanbase my name is @TheBLeagueSays and I am 100% never taking Washington with the spread, or at home with the ‘Unders’ ever again… In this week‘s ‘The Game plan of the Week’, I will give to you some plays to make in regards to your Fantasy teams weekly roster construction, DFS selections or Dynasty evaluations.
So before we get started, Thank you, and enjoy!
I had an up and down week, I won’t lie to you. Some things hit, like Demarcus Robinson, and some things I didn’t hit on like Kyler Murray. It’s a part of the game, being right, being wrong and being somewhere in the middle.
Now I could sit here and relive the past, or I could kick onto Week 4, so how about it then?
Slant Route
Who is trending up this week:
Danny Freakin’ Dimes…
Daniel Jones had a cloud of controversy hanging over him before he even put the cap on given to him by Roger Goodell on Draft Night. He was laughed at, berated by his own fans when his name was called – and was even booed at a Yankees game. But he did shut a lot of people up, even his counterparts who say College wins matter (‘sup Baker Mayfield), yet they can’t get themselves right either.
Now, as a Giants fan I can tell you when he was announced instead of Dwayne Haskins, yeah sure I had a meltdown (it’s true I’m a horrible person). But two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns with an 18 point comeback away to Tampa – and oh by the way – it was the first time in what feels like forever that the team had made any ground on third downs, and he did just that, whether it be by rushing or passing; he produced. Without Saquon Barkley for most of the game. Crazy.
The buy low window is shattered, we have him ranked in Dynasty as our QB34, but there’s no reason he can’t a lot of guys ahead of him before too long like an Andy Dalton or Marcus Mariota for example.

The Browns, who are indeed gonna Brown…
Blame their O-Line? Sure. Blame the playcalling? Yeah, why not! Blame the distractions of whatever bling Odell Beckham Jr is wearing before a game? Naturally, people will, it’s what they do. Blame their Quarterback who looks like he has read more commercial scripts than studying his opposition? You could say that and no one can blame you for thinking it either.
They look like their former dysfunctional selves, don’t they? The Browns have lost some key components to their front five, they brought in Todd Monken who called an electric offense in Tampa in 2018 (only to not have him call the plays), Odell Beckham (compared to being in New York) has been relatively tame and Baker Mayfield has struggled against Tennessee, the New York Jets and the L.A. Rams and putting this team in a 1-2 position, instead of the 3-0 spot they hoped to be in before a rough schedule appears before them. That schedule includes four out of five games on the road (to Baltimore, San Francisco, New England, and Denver) with the only game at home wedged in between to Russell Wilson and Seattle. This does not sound fun at all.
But in every crisis, there is an opportunity, and that means for the first time this season, the Cleveland Browns are currently overwhelming underdogs at Baltimore this week seeing a +7 on the spread with an Over/Under of 45.5 (via mybookie.ag) and that to me (despite their failings) is solid value.
Comeback Route
Who will recover after a poor performance in the previous week:
You don’t need a Kicker against the Miami Dolphins, so Philip Rivers and the L.A. Chargers – come on down!
This one is self-explanatory, but it feels like every year in the first month of the year we talk about the Chargers and how a Kicker has done them wrong. And here we are again. Wax on, wax off. A tale as old as time. Groundhog Day. So, The Chargers travel east for a 1 pm game which is normally a trap but lately Miami is just giving the cheese away. On Draft Kings, I have seen some solid options in that matchup, particularly Justin Jackson ($4100) and Mike Williams ($4800) who could see more work due to lack of anything in front of them on the other side of the turf.
Screen Route
The contrarian play of the week:
Get up!
Everybody’s gonna move their feet.
Get down!
Everybody’s gonna leave their seat.
You gotta lose your mind in Detroit Rock City!
I mean, we can all believe, right? Look they stumbled into a Draw in overtime in Week 1, stifled the Chargers in Week 2, and on the road in Philadelphia put up some impressive numbers. For the most part, they are a healthy team with all their playmakers available.
No, I do not believe that Detroit will beat Kansas this week, at home in a dome with all the speed that the Chiefs possess. However, I do say that they will not only keep up but also cover the spread at +7 and the ‘Overs’ set at 54. I think this game has ‘shootout’ written all over it and the Lions have the personnel to surprise a lot of folks this week.
Out Route
Who am I completely off this week:
Teddy Bridgewater and the New Orleans Saints at home against Dallas (everyone except Alvin Kamara really).
Because Alvin Kamara is a beast, that’s why!
Jokes aside, I am very happy to see Teddy Bridgewater on the field and playing healthy, looking comfortable and in a meaningful game. And I am very happy to see him get a win on the road at Seattle. All cool and the gang. However…
I want no part of the New Orleans Saints (at home, or away, or Antarctica – it doesn’t matter) this week against Dallas who never really got out of second gear last week against Miami. The Cowboys are a different animal, their Defense is one of the best (in my opinion) in the league and I don’t think they’ll give him an inch which makes me nervous about his receivers, Michael Thomas (as amazing as he is) included.
Except for Alvin Kamara, again. Beast.
The 9 Route
A straight forward confidence play of the week:
The New England Patriots are on the road against Buffalo and although the Bills have been fantastic, they’ve beaten both New York teams and the Bengals, none of which outside of the Giants game did they ever look like they were somewhat dominant. The Patriots haven’t had the hardest schedule either, and that’s fair to point out – but they have been devastatingly clinical this year which is what always separates them from the pack, and not giving up any touchdowns from actual opposition play after three weeks is mindblowing. I am just not sure where the points come from here for Buffalo, but I’d say that their best bet is for Josh Allen to be at his rushing best to keep drives going – and keeping Tom Brady and pals off the field as long as possible in doing so.
Play your Patriots with more confidence, temper the expectations with your Bill players.
Hail Mary Play Of The Week
I can’t believe I am about to say this… but if you had to pick an 0-3 team to jump on this week, who would you pick? For me, it’s the Cincinnati Bengals.
(Don’t throw your device at a wall!)
But hear me out. On the road in Week 1 at Seattle, the game was there for the taking in nearly the upset of the round with a 1-point loss. They followed that up by looking outclassed by the 49ers at home. However, in a tough matchup at Buffalo, the Bengals held their own, competed, but came up short 17-21. They’ve been close, with a banged-up Joe Mixon and A.J. Green still out injured – and Andy Dalton still in command with a weak-as-water Offensive Line and a Secondary which is not what it once was. But they have had some bright spots from some unexpected resources, like John Ross who has been possibly the biggest surprise of the season Auden Tate stood up last week and Damion Willis is a project, but looking ok, there is at least some gloom in the 0-3 tomb.
They play on the road against a Mason Rudolph-led Pittsburgh Steelers, and while I believe this game is clearly tilted towards Pittsburgh winning (whose Defense is sneakily underrated mind you), I believe that Cincinnati can cover the 1st Half spread at +3 (also currently at mybookie.ag) which seems a bit closer than the +4 start they are currently getting for the game as a whole.
I want to thank you for getting this far and taking in everything I have presented. You can as always follow and find me at @TheBLeagueSays and offer any view or conversation about this.
