DFS NFL FanDuel/DraftKings Week 5 Lineup Advice (10/6/19)

Quarterbacks
Explosive Play | Kyler Murray (ARI) $6,300 @ CIN
Only the Atlanta/Houston has a higher over/under on the main slate this week. The line sits at 48.5 with the Bengals favored by four. I’d be tempted to take the over in this game. Both defenses are terrible and both offenses have some good weapons — which could mean tons of points. I think I will have a few stacks from this game this weekend.
Deep Threat | Andy Dalton (CIN) $5,700 vs ARI
I’m also taking the QB on the other side in Andy Dalton. Outside of last week on Monday night, Dalton has been a good fantasy QB. The Cardinals rank 22nd DVOA vs. the pass and their fast pace offense means more plays for Dalton and the Bengals to put up points.
Hail Mary | Chase Daniel (CHI) $4,800 @ OAK (London Game)
The Raiders are 27th DVOA vs. the pass but ninth vs. the run. The Bears are going to want to run the ball, but when they aren’t able to Daniel will be forced to pass. They won’t him take many chances so look for safe passes to Tarik Cohen and Allen Robinson.
Missed Tackle | Dak Prescott (DAL) $6,000 vs GB
This is more about the Cowboys run game and the Packers run defense than it is about Prescott. The Packers run defense can’t stop anyone, not even Jordan Howard. They even allowed Howard to catch a TD. Let me say that again. Jordan Howard caught a TD. Crazy right? This is Zeke week.

Running Backs
Explosive Play | Dalvin Cook (MIN) $8,400 @ NYG
I don’t think I need to convince you to play Dalvin Cook. The Giants run defense hasn’t been terrible this year, ranking 16th DVOA vs. the run, but Dalvin Cook is going to get a ton of touches and he is a game-breaker.
Deep Threat | David Johnson (ARI) $7,500 @ CIN
I recommended a Kyler Murray/David Johnson stack last week and I’m going to do it again. This game has sneaky upside for scoring and it’s skill players aren’t overpriced.
Hail Mary | Tarik Cohen (CHI) $4,800 @ OAK (London Game)
Cohen is due. He had 5 targets last week, all coming after Chase Daniel stepped in for Mitch Trubisky. The TD last week saved his fantasy line, but I think Cohen could score two TDs this week on big plays vs. the Raiders.
Missed Tackle | Melvin Gordon (LAC) $7,000 vs DEN
Too early to know how this backfield will shake out and not a great matchup.
Others I like: Ezekiel Elliott $8,300
Wide Receivers
Explosive Play | DeAndre Hopkins (HOU) $7,800 vs ATL
This game has the highest over/under on the main slate and I expect it to be a shootout. I also like Julio Jones in this spot but affording both would be hard. The Falcons defense hasn’t been able to stop anyone all year ranking 21st DVOA vs. the pass.
Deep Threat | Stefon Diggs (MIN) $6,200 @ NYG
With all the drama surrounding Diggs, despite coming off a big game, I’m expecting a “squeaky wheel” narrative in this game. Cousins will pepper Diggs with targets and the coaching staff will call more plays to get him the ball. The Giants ranked 16th DVOA vs. the pass, but they are worse than their numbers show.
Hail Mary | Auden Tate (CIN) $3,500 vs CIN
With John Ross on IR and A.J. Green still out a few more weeks, Tate steps into the No. 2 role by default. However, despite his low draft capital and his lack of speed, Tate was starting to lay well even before Ross was ruled out. He got six targets last week, catching four of them for 50 yards and just missing on a TD on a slightly overthrown pass from Dalton.
Missed Tackle | Keenan Allen (LAC) $7,300 vs DEN
The Broncos are one of the best defenses when it comes to defending the slot, which is where Allen spends most of his time. The Chargers may more Allen outside more in this game with all the injuries they have, so he may still put up good numbers, but I think there are better options.
Others I like: Golden Tate $4,600, Tyler Boyd $6,500
Tight Ends
Explosive Play | Evan Engram (NYG) $5,800 vs MIN
The Vikings DVOA vs. the tight end position is deceiving. They are currently ranked fourth, but most of that is fueled by the games against the Packers and the Bears. Jimmy Graham for the Packers didn’t catch a single pass all game and Trey Burton for the Bears only had two catches for 16 yards. However, if you look at what Austin Hooper did in Week 1 (9/77) and what Darren Waller did to them in Week 3 (13/134), Engram should be high on your player pool this week.
Deep Threat | Austin Hooper (ATL) $4,500 @ HOU
Hooper has been flying under the radar despite averaging the second most DK points so far this season (19), behind only Travis Kelce. As I mentioned when talking about DeAndre Hopkins, this game has the highest over/under on the slate and Hooper should eat.
Hail Mary | Tyler Eifert (CIN) $3,300 vs ARI
It pains me to say, but Eifert may be chalk this week. That’s just how bad this Arizona team has been vs. the TE. I’m going to limit my exposure but as we saw with Will Dissly last week, the Cardinals just can’t defend the TE.
Missed Tackle | Darren Waller (OAK) $5,000 vs CHI (London Game)
Waller has been a revelation so far this season but this is a bad matchup for him.
Others I like: Mark Andrews $4,800, Dawson Knox $3,100
Defense
Explosive Play | Patriots $4,300 @ WAS
I don’t feel I have to explain this one. If you don’t know why the Patriots are the top play this week then you probably shouldn’t be playing DFS.
Deep Threat | Eagles $3,700 vs NYJ
Two words. Luke. Falk. If Darnold starts, downgrade the Eagles a little, but I still like them.
Hail Mary | Buccaneers @ NO $2,200
I rolled with them last week going to L.A. to play the high-powered Rams and everyone laughed at me. Let’s try it again.
Missed Tackle | Saints $3,400 vs TB
The Bucs’ offense is starting to click. I like the Saints defense, just not at that price when there are better options.
Others I like: Bears $3,800
