Fantasy Football Week 10 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Before I unveil Week 10’s streamers let’s account for Week 9’s results, as bad as they were, (Yahoo! scoring, four points per passing touchdown, full-point PPR).

Quarterback: Gardner Minshew-9.76 points
Tight End: Jonnu Smith-4.8 points
Team Defense: Cleveland Browns-5 points

With six teams on a bye-the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins-here are my quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 10.

Quarterback: Sam Darnold, New York Jets vs. New York Giants

Darnold had a great matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9, and he promptly delivered a dud with 260 yards, one touchdown and one incredibly bad interception on his way to 13.5 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring). But in a thin week, I can’t ignore his Week 10 matchup.

The New York Giants are allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season (20.39 per game; Yahoo! scoring). Every quarterback not named Case Keenum, Dwayne Haskins (in the same game) or Kyler Murray has topped 20 fantasy points and accounted for multiple touchdowns against them thus far, and five quarterbacks have topped 300 passing yards.

It will take ignoring how he has looked to go all-in on Darnold during what has long been pointed to as a very favorable stretch of schedule. But for Week 10, in a great matchup that is actually even better than it looks, I’m rolling with him as my top quarterback streamer.

Yahoo! Ownership: 25%

Others To Consider: Daniel Jones, New York Giants at New York Jets; Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs; Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks (check availability; Monday night); Jacoby Brissett/Brian Hoyer, Indianapolis Colts vs. Miami Dolphins; Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers (Thursday night); Ryan Fitzpatrick, Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts; Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Arizona Cardinals (check availability)

Tight End: Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts

Gesicki had six receptions for 95 yards in Week 9 against the New York Jets. He has topped 40 yards in three of his last four games, with more than eight full-point PPR points in each of those three. With Dolphins wide receiver Preston Williams (knee) out for the season, Gesicki’s Week 10 matchup looks a bit better than it already did.

The Indianapolis Colts are a bottom-10 defense against tight ends this year, via Yahoo! or ESPN PPR scoring, including among the most catches and targets per game allowed to the position. In all but one game all season, at least one tight end has posted over seven full-point PPR fantasy points against the Colts with six tight ends posting double-digits.

After DeVante Parker, Gesicki is in line to be the No. 2 target in Miami’s passing game for Ryan Fitzpatrick. That creates a solid floor, with a nice ceiling to put him atop the pile of streaming options at tight end this week.

Yahoo! Ownership: 5%

Others To Consider: Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams at Pittsburgh Steelers (check availability); Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings (Sunday night); Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs; Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts vs. Miami Dolphins; O.J. Howard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Arizona Cardinals; Jacob Hollister, Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (Monday night)

Team Defense: Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

A Week 8 bye, coupled with a looming Week 9 matchup against the New England Patriots, kept fantasy owners off the Ravens’ defense. But they held the Patriots to 20 points with two sacks, two takeaways and a fumble return touchdown last week, and in Week 7 they held the Seattle Seahawks to 16 points with two return touchdowns in that game. Over those last two games this unit has posted 31 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) and Week 10 brings a great matchup.

The Cincinnati Bengals are now edging the Dolphins in the battle for the No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft, and to that end they benched Andy Dalton for rookie Ryan Finley over their Week 9 bye week. Finley will obviously be making his first NFL start against Baltimore on Sunday, while seeing his first regular season action.

The Bengals may finally get wide receiver A.J. Green back this week. But that does little to diminish the fantasy prospects for the Ravens’ defense, and they are an easy top streamer for Week 10.
