DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup 1/12/21 brought to you by

PSA: I write these the night before the slate, so there is a lot of things that can happen between now and then. First off, the late game from Monday night isn’t even over, so some players on today’s slate played in those games. I don’t know how they played yet. Two, there are a bunch of Covid question marks around on this slate, mainly in the Heat//PHI game. I will assume the game gets played and any player not already ruled out will play.
With that said, I publish a daily spreadsheet, compete with projections and player grades. I try to wait till as late as I can to publish it, or I’ll publish early and then update later in the day. Bookmark this page and check it throughout the day: DFS NBA Spreadsheet. You will be able to find the daily sheet on that page all season, so make sure to bookmark it.
NBA DFS Legend
Nothing But Net | My top plays of the night at his position. |
Dunk | A Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside. |
Half-Court Shot | Otherwise known as a “punt play.” A Low-priced, high-upside player. |
Blocked Shot | A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.” |
**Main Slate
Guards
Nothing But Net | Malcolm Brogdon (IND) $8,000 @ GS
As mentioned in the intro, Brogdon is currently playing while I write this, and there is always a chance he sits out on the second game of a back-to-back. However, if he plays he gets a great matchup with a Warriors team giving up 49.24 DK points to point guards on the season. The Warriors are also the second fastest team in the league in terms of pace, so it’s a pace up game for them, meaning more possessions.
Dunk | Caris LeVert (BKN) $7,600 vs. DEN
The Nets have no idea where Kyrie Irving is at this time, and he has already been ruled out for personal reasons. LeVert had a slightly down game in his last outing, scoring only 35 DK points after back-to-back 50-plus games, but his price reflects that down game as he is $300 cheaper. Denver is a tough defensive team, but LeVert is good enough, and cheap enough, to take the risk on. His upside is tremendous and on a six-game slate, with a third of the player pool out/questionable, LeVert makes for an easy play.
Half-Court Shot | Hamidou Diallo (OKC) $5,300 vs. SA
I had to reach deep for this one, but anytime a player sub-$5,500 puts up back-to-back 40-plus DK point games, you have to at least consider him an option. In addition to that, he gets a Spurs team giving up the most DK points and most NBA points to small forwards so far this season — and it’s not even close. They give up a full five DK points more than the second-worst team, the Grizzlies, who, for comparison sake, only give up one more point than the third-place team.
Blocked Shot | James Harden (HOU) $10,800 vs. LAL
I have a hard time paying $10,800 for Harden tonight as he has been struggling recently with four straight sub-50 point games.

Forwards
Nothing But Net | Kevin Durant (BKN) $9,400 vs. DEN
Having already knocked off any rust from missing a few games due to Covid exposure, putting up 58.3 DK points in the process, Durant will play another game without his running mate Irving. He and LeVert will be the top scoring options against a tough Nuggets team, and he will be locked into a lot of my rosters.
Dunk | LaMarcus Aldridge (SA) $6,300 @ OKC
Anyone that has followed me and my column over the last six years knows that I love Aldridge — going back to his Blazers days. He isn’t the same player he once was, but he is still capable of giving us a gem every now and then, and I think tonight will be one such game. The Thunder give up the second-most DK points to power forwards and he will be without DeMar DeRozan for at least this game and maybe more.
Half-Court Shot | Justin Holiday (IND) $5,000 @ GS
Holiday is another player I had to reach deep for. Scrolling past a lot of players with “O” next to their name trying to find anyone in the sub-$5,500 that’s playing and worth rostering is difficult. However, he gets a great matchup with the fast-paced Warriors who struggle to defend anyone, he gets 28-plus minutes a game, and he rarely gives you a dud game. He makes for a solid salary saver.
Blocked Shot | Anthony Davis (LAL) $9,500 @ HOU
Anytime you roster Anthony Davis, you’re taking the risk that he may get injured. I know he has been much better in his Lakers uni than he ever was in New Orleans, but the threat is still there. In DFS, we took that risk night-in and night-out because he offered us that tremendous upside, the 80-plus point games. However, we have not seen it this year so far, and the Lakers seem to be on cruise control at the moment, knowing they don’t need to push their stars too hard in this Covid-condensed season.

- None worth listing – Forward is a dead zone tonight unless we get some news.
Centers
Nothing But Net | Domantas Sabonis (IND) $9,300 @ GS
Can you tell I’m really picking on the Warriors tonight? Sabonis is currently playing as I write this, but it looks as though he will continue to stay hot. The Warriors aren’t terrible against centers, but Sabonis fits nicely at his price. Paying up for Joel Embiid on the second night of a back-to-back doesn’t sound fun, and Nikola Jokic’s $11,000 price tag will be hard to swallow.
Dunk | Christian Wood (LAL) $7,900 @ HOU
Having just played the Lakers a few nights ago, I think Wood comes through with a much better performance tonight. His price came down a little from $8,100 the other night, and I’d expect this game to have the highest game total on the slate — currently sits at 233 with some of the other games not released yet.
Half-Court Shot | Kelly Olynyk (MIA) $5,300 @ PHI
I avoided putting too many Heat and Philly players in my write-ups as I’m not sure this game even gets played. However, if it does get played, it likely means Olynyk is playing as they need him to fulfill the eight-active player rule. If he plays, on short-rotation at $5,300, he will be super chalky.
Blocked Shot | Andre Drummond (CLE) $9,100 vs. UTA
A matchup with Rudy Gobert limits the upside of Drummond. I like Gobert in this matchup at a much cheaper price.
