Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox
I was all over the the Red Sox to end their slump yesterday but the surging Rays put them to bed 8-4 in game 1 of the series. The Rays improve to 69-44 after a solid performance from Patino and continue their win streak to 5 games. The Rays haven’t confirmed their starting pitcher at this time.
The Red Sox are majorly trending down in the home stretch of the season with a record of 65-50 and have lost 10 out of their last 12 games. Not a great August. Boston will send out Eovaldi (9-7) who has pitched 126.0 innings thus far has 124 Ks and 23 BB while averaging an ERA of 4.07 and a WHIP of 1.21.
The odds are not posted at this time but I predict that the Red Sox will win, despite recent misfortunes. The slump has to end sometime and the Rays can’t win forever.
New York Yankees at Kansas City Royals
The Yankees and Royals have split this series a game apiece with the Royals winning game 2. The Royals have found a lot of success early in the season but their lack of pitching had caught up to them big time. The Royals 49-63 overall and are 4-6 over the last 10 games.
The Royals will send out Singer (3-7) to the mound. Singer has only played 87.2 innings with 92 Ks and 36 BB. He also touts an ERA of 5.13 and a WHIP of 1.54.
The Yankees have started to turn their season around after a solid trade deadline. Both Rizzo and Gallo have already made an impact on their team as they are starting to close in on the Red Sox and are now in the hunt to win the AL East with a record of 62-51. The Yankees have yet to confirm their starting pitcher.
The odds are not yet out for this matchup but the Yankees should be the favorite and taking them is the smart play as they should take advantage of Singer.
