San Diego Padres at Arizona Diamondbacks

The Padres have fallen into a slump and it can’t come at a worse time as September is right around the corner. They aren’t out of the playoff race but they will have to end this downslide immediately. Luckily, the Padres get a series with the atrocious Diamondbacks. Easily a chance for the Padres to get back in the hunt.

The Padres will send out Chris Paddack (7-6) to the mound. Through 93.0 innings of play he has 90 K, 19 BB, 1.31 WHIP, and 5.13 ERA.

Over the last 10 games, the Arizona Diamondbacks have a better record with 3-7 compared to the Padres 2-8. The Diamondbacks are 44-88 as their disappointing but not surprising season is drawing to a close. Usually teams like these will play farm league players to assess talent.

The Diamondbacks will play 27-year-old gunslinger Gilbert (1-1). He has shown some promise through 22 innings nabbing 16 K, 9 BB, 2.38 ERA and a WHIP of 1.01.

The odds aren’t out yet but Padres will certainly be the favorite and I believe the Padres will win in hopes of getting out of their slump.
