Tennessee Titans

The Titans were thinking that Bishop Sankey was going to be the man going into last season. Clearly the feelings have changed as they went out and drafted David Cobb

Bishop Sankey

Many expected more from from Sankey last season, including the Titans. He finished up with just 569 yards and 2 touchdowns. This year the Titans drafted talented rookie David Cobb.

Now the question on everyone’s mind is, Sankey or Cobb. Sankey will have his work cut out for him, if he wants to be the starting RB for the Titans.

One has to wonder if the starting RB for the Titans is worth the concern. Depending on which running back wins the job, that answer can either be yes or no. I don’t believe in Sankey, if he wins the starting job this season, I expect a mediocre rushing attack at best.

David Cobb

David Cobb is by far the most athletic RB the Titans have on the roster. In a perfect world he would win the starting job. I expect him to be the starter at some point this season.

In my opinion, Cobb is ready to start in the NFL right now. He has that explosive big play ability the Titans were lacking at the position last season. He is a good receiving back, so he can contribute in both facets of the offense.

As more people learn about Cobb, he slowly climbs the rankings. I believe that Cobb is the back to own in this backfield. Sankey had his chance last year and squandered it. Cobb won’t do the same, if given the chance to excel, I have no doubts that David Cobb can run away with this job.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Last season many felt confident that Doug Martin would have a big year with Lovie Smith in town. He ended up being one of the biggest disappointments in fantasy football. he left the door wide open for Charles Sims and Bobby Rainey.

Doug Martin

Doug Martin was in my opinion one of the biggest disappointments of the 2015 season. He basically failed to get going all season, finishing up with 494 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Now he did battle injuries last season, but, even when he was healthy he wasn’t impressing anyone. He left the door wide open for guys like Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims to walk right through.

For me, the Bucs not taking the 5th year option on Doug Martin’s contract is evidence that they are going to move on after this season. Therefore, they will have to get other running backs involved to figure out what they have behind Martin.

Charles Sims

He started off last season injured or we probably would have seen him a lot sooner than we did. He is the best pass catching back they have on the roster, so at a minimum, he is going to get involved heavily in the passing game this year.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Bucs anoint Sims the starter before the season even begins. He clearly has the most upside of their options. I’m ready to take a chance on his upside, especially with him going so late in drafts, he will end up a value.

Now, it’s worth noting, that the Bucs will have an offense that leaves a lot to be desired. I would expect the Bucs to be playing from behind a bunch this season, which means they will be abandoning the running game quite often.

Even with that said, Sims, still has his PPR value. No matter how far back the Bucs fall in games, they will keep Sims active in the passing game. For me Sims is the most feasible option the Bucs have. I have him ranked 34th this year, no matter how bad the Bucs are, he should still present a value.

Bobby Rainey

Bobby Rainey is an interesting case. He seems to find his way onto fantasy rosters in deeper leagues every year. He finished up last season with 406 yards and just 1 touchdown.

I’m not expecting a ton of change in the usage and production of Bobby Rainey. Some make the argument that with his current ADP he is worth a flyer if you don’t believe in Sims and Martin.

I can see where they are coming from, if for some reason they decided to go away from Sims and Martin and went with Rainey, he would present tremendous value based on his draft position.

He isn’t consistent enough to be a full time back in the NFL. I’m still betting on Sims in this backfield.
