Daily MLB FanDuel Lineup Advice – 4/15

Hey guys, and welcome to my inaugural Daily MLB FanDuel article with GoingFor2.com! I am very happy to be a part of the team, and let’s start winning some money! First of all, it looks like weather around the league on Wednesday will be largely favorable, with the only exception coming from Atlanta for the Braves/Marlins game where there is expected to be rainfall around the first pitch time of 12:10 ET. This is unfortunate, because I am very intrigued with the potential of this game. Alright, let’s roll out some plays I like for theĀ All Day slate.

Pitchers

There are a lot of third and fourth starters on the hill today, so picking the correct pitcher for your lineup could make or break your day.

Edinson Volquez, KC – $8,900

Fanduel MLB Lineup 4/15/15

“If they’re playing the Twins, start em” is soon to be a creed of 2015 fantasy baseball owners everywhere. Now while he doesn’t have the best of match-ups and not necessarily the friendliest of parks, I think that Volquez is a rock-solid option tomorrow. The Royals hurler had an excellent outing against the White Sox last week for his first start of the year, posting 5 K’s and allowing only 4 hits in 8 IP. Win potential is very important in determining a pitcher, and it is almost a certainty that the Royals lineup will put some runs against no-name starter Kyle Gibson for the Twins. Volquez could rack up 6+ K’s and should be a virtual lock for a quality start (statistically speaking), plus the win potential is very tantalizing.

Lance Lynn, STL – $8,700

$200 cheaper than Volquez, Lance Lynn seems to be another strong start against the heavy-swinging, right-handed heavy Brewers lineup. Emerging as the staff ace, Lynn has a great fastball and slider combination that helps him keep hitters off-balance and post good strikeout numbers. Look for numbers from the Cardinals starter similar to what I projected for Volquez, with a few more strikeouts. And of course, the win potential is always there with that gritty, deep Cardinals offense.

(Digging deeper…) Tyler Matzek, COL – $5,800

The two Rockies starters in this current series with the Giants (Butler, Bergman) have held San Francisco scoreless while they were on the bump. Granted those outings were fairly short and were speckled with inconsistency, which could be expected from the young Rockies however. Matzek has nasty stuff, is facing a lefty-dominated lineup in a pitcher’s park, and has one of the best offenses in the league backing him up. I’m pretty sure I will be rolling out Matzek in my cash lineups tomorrow, the absurdly low price tag is just too tempting to pass up.

Anthony Rizzo, CHC – $4,300

I like Rizzo to tally his first home run later today against the lackluster Jason Marquis. The Cubs first baseman has the natural match-up advantage, and he has been hitting in a favorable part of the lineup recently. The Reds and Cubs could be in line for a lot of runs with two sub-par starters on the hill, and Rizzo should end his mini-slump and get in on the action.

Evan Longoria, TB – $3,700

Longoria is close to a lifetime .300 hitter against Blue Jays probable starter Mark Buehrle, and the two are going to face off in the hitter-friendly confines of Rogers Centre above the border. Buehrle is aging and losing his repertoire little by little, and the Rays third baseman is in bad need of some momentum at the plate. I really like the match-up and pedigree here with Longoria, and his cheap price tag in relation to other top-tier third basemen makes him an attractive play for Wednesday.

Recommended Lineup “Stacks”

For those of you unfamiliar, MLB DFS strategists sometimes like to use a strategy of “stacking” players from certain lineups who overall have a good match-up or are going against a noticeably weak starting pitcher. I have used this approach numerous times, and if you pick your stacks judiciously, it can be very beneficial!

Marlins hitters vs. Stults (Stanton, Ozuna, Morse, Gordon)

Pirates (lefty) hitters vs. Simon (Polanco, Walker, Alvarez, McCutchen)
