Top Plays
Jake Arrieta
Arrieta will face the Brewers in Miller Park. The Brewers are a team that can put up some runs from time to time, but will strike out frequently as well. Arrieta comes in as a big favorite and the Brewers have a team total of just three runs. Combine Arrieta’s 23.9% strikeout percentage with a ton of swing-and-miss bats, and you have a solid floor for cash games. Additionally, Arrieta’s price is significantly lower than other aces on the slate.
George Springer
Assuming Springer leads off, he will be the first hitter in my lineup. Nate Karns has struggled recently and the Astros have a 4.5 team run total.
Rays Hitters
Against Marco Estrada, I like Rays lefties in this slate. They’re priced reasonably, and while Estrada always seems to out-perform his peripherals, I still think we can target him due to the prices of the Rays. I’ll be on Corey Dickerson, Kevin Kiermaier, and Brad Miller due to their cheap prices.
Kyle Schwarber
I’ve been disappointed by Schwarber over the past few days, but he’s leading off and playing at a great ballpark for his skill set. Zach Davies isn’t a great pitcher and Schwarber can take advantage. Schwarber currently projects as the most likely player on the slate to hit a home run.
Brian Dozier
Even against a solid pitcher like Jose Quintana, I like Dozier due to his home run upside. He holds the platoon advantage and currently has the highest home run projection for a second baseman on the slate. He also comes in at a slight discount due to the matchup.
Notes
The Rays and Astros are my favorite tournaments stacks.
Arrieta will be my SP1, and Stephen Strasburg and Noah Syndergaard will battle it out for my SP2.
Patrick Corbin is a huge value on this slate. I’m not sure he’s safe enough to use in cash games, but he will be a staple of my tournament lineups.
Many factors can change between the time I write this article and the time lineups lock. I’ll do my best to update the article, so checking back frequently is encouraged. You can also ask questions on Twitter @fantasbeast15. I’ll do my best to get to all of them!
