MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 5/10/2017

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!
Top Plays
Yu Darvish
Darvish will face the Padres in Globe Life Park. The Padres struggle against right handed pitchers, striking out 25.7% of the time. Darvis already has built-in strikeouts with his 30.0% career strikeout percentage. Against righties, the Padres are 24th in the league in wRC+ so it doesn’t look like they can generate much offense either. Vegas agrees as Darvish is tied for the third lowest OTT (see pitcher chart) and is the second largest favorite of the day.
Chris Archer
Archer is the third largest favorite and will face the Royals who are 28th in wRC+ against righties. The Royals don’t strike out as much as other teams, but they don’t scare you as an offense. Archer will be in a pitchers park and has the lowest OTT of the day. He’s expensive, but the upside is worth the price.
Kenta Maeda
Maeda enters the day as the biggest favorite and has the lowest OTT. He’ll get the Pirates offense which ranks 25th in wRC+ against righties. The only knock on the matchup is the Pirates don’t strike out much as a team, limiting Maeda’s upside. This is more of a cash play than a GPP play due to capped upside, but I love the safety in cash games.
Diamondbacks Righties
The Diamondbacks are my favorite stack of the day. They’ll face Matt Boyd, who will give up the platoon advantage to most of the Diamondbacks hitters. The Diamondbacks are tied for the highest run total of the day, and most hitters are simply too cheap. A.J. Pollock and Yasmany Tomas are under $4,000 on DraftKings, while Paul Goldschmidt is just $4,700. Nick Ahmed, even if he bats eighth, is one of my favorite punts as well at just $2,300.
Brewers Bats
The Brewers are my second favorite stack. Most of my cash game plays will come from Diamondbacks and Brewers hitters. Kyle Kendrick will face the Brewers in Miller Park, and I will have plenty of exposure to the top of the Brewers order. Jonathan Villar has struggled on the bases recently, but still has a high chance of stealing a base if he gets on. Kendrick has just a 12.6% career strikeout percentage and has a 4.6% strikeout percentage this season with the Red Sox. He’s also struggled to prevent home runs, which is bad news in Miller Park against the Brewers who have hit more home runs than any other team in baseball. Villar, Eric Thames, Ryan Braun, Travis Shaw and Domingo Santana are all on my radar in cash games, while Keon Broxton and whoever the Brewers start at catcher are on my radar for tournaments.
Notes
Max Scherzer showed the upside of using righties against the Orioles, but it’s not my favorite matchup for Stephen Strasburg. He’s a solid tournament play, but I likely won’t use him in cash games.
Miguel Cabrera is also way too cheap for his matchup against Zach Godley.
The pitching chart will be updated often. Make sure to check back for the newest information, especially if a column is currently incomplete!
