MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 5/2/2017

Last Updated: 5/2/2017 – 7:06 AM CT

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!

Top Plays

Chris Sale

Sale will face the Orioles at home and is the biggest favorite on the slate. The Orioles are sneaky-bad against lefties, striking out 26.4% of the time and sitting in the middle of the league in wRC+. Sale is my favorite play of the day, despite pitching in a hitter-friendly park.

Carlos Martinez

Martinez is a large favorite, at home in a pitchers park, and facing a team that strikes out 26.7% of the time against righties. He’s only $8,900 on DraftKings, making him the perfect SP2 to pair with Chris Sale. It seems like every day I write about playing right handed pitchers against Milwaukee, but until they cut down on their strikeouts, I’ll continue to target them. If Ryan Braun misses this game, Martinez becomes a near lock in cash games.

Mookie Betts

Betts will face Alec Asher on Tuesday and has a great chance to go off. I like playing Betts because he doesn’t strike out often and will rarely give you a zero. The Red Sox have a team total of five runs, and Betts should be a big part of getting to that total. I’ll also consider Andrew Benintendi for the same reasons as Betts, plus he’s $1,000 cheaper on DraftKings and will have the platoon advantage.

Astros Righties

For some reason, Astros hitters saw their prices decrease for Tuesday’s matchup against Cole Hamels. While Hamels isn’t exactly a bad pitcher, he’s not what he used to be, and I have no problem stacking teams against him. This season, Hamels has just an 11.5% strikeout rate, and a 5.34 SIERA. I don’t understand the price drops, so I’ll gladly load up on Astros righties in both cash games and tournaments.

Mets Lefties

The same lefties I rolled out yesterday and in play today. R. A. Dickey is always risky to stack against because of his random good knuckleball games, but I’ll take that small risk for the huge upside of a blow-up start. Jay Bruce is my favorite play from the Mets due to his power upside. I also love Michael Conforto’s price, and will likely have exposure to him as well. If you want a Mets stack for tournaments, I’d add Asdrubal Cabrera, Neil Walker and Curtis Granderson, but I don’t think I’ll have cash game exposure to those three.
