MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 5/30/2017

Last Updated: 5/29/2017 – 8:07 PM CT

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!

Top Plays

Chris Sale

Sale is the most expensive pitcher on the slate and will face his former team in an away game on Tuesday. He’s priced at $13,400 on DraftKings, $2,800 more than the next highest pitcher. Sale is the largest favorite on the slate and has the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart). He owns a 36.7% strikeout percentage this year and is the clear top option. The question is whether to pay for him. The White Sox have the highest wRC+ and the second lowest strikeout percentage against lefties, and while this is a relatively small sample, it is concerning if we’re paying so much for Sale. Even with the concerns, I’m leaning toward paying for Sale in cash games.

Gio Gonzalez

Gonzalez will face the Giants in AT&T Park. The Giants are terrible against lefties with just a 70 wRC+. Gonzalez gets a park upgrade and has the second lowest OTT on the slate. The Giants don’t strike out a ton against lefties, but it’s a fairly safe matchup for Gonzalez.

Eddie Butler

Butler gets a park upgrade as he travels to Petco Park. He’s not a great pitcher, but he has a great matchup against the Padres who strike out 25.2% of the time against righties. The Padres have the third worst wRC+ against righties, and Butler is tied for the second lowest OTT of the day. For just $5,400 on DraftKings, Butler is an interesting SP2 to pair with Chris Sale.

Brian Dozier

Dozier will face Mike Fiers on Tuesday. In past articles, I’ve highlighted Fiers’ struggles with allowing home runs, and that’s exactly why I love Dozier today. Dozier has the highest home run projection for second baseman by a significant amount. He’s a great tournament play as a lot of people will pay $400 more to get Robinson Cano, or $300 less to get DJ LeMahieu. He could be tough to fit into your lineups if you’re paying up for SP2, but I’ll likely try to work Dozier into both my tournament and cash game lineups.

Coors Bats

You can fit a few of the top Coors bats if you choose to pay down at SP2. That’s my preferred strategy in tournaments, but in cash games, I’ll likely pay up for pitchers. In cash games, I’m looking at Kyle Seager, even against a lefty, and watching lineups to see where Danny Valencia and Mike Zunino hit in the order. In tournaments, I love Nolan Arenado and Nelson Cruz for their power upside. They have the two highest home run projections on the slate.

Punts

If you choose to pay up for pitcher, here are my favorite punts to help you fill out your lineup.

1B – Luis Valbuena

OF – Andrew McCutchen (tournaments only)

OF/SS – Allen Cordoba

SS – Tim Beckham (if he hits near the top of the order)

C – Austin Hedges

Notes

Jeff Samardzija is a solid SP2 option on DraftKings, especially if Bryce Harper is out.

Miguel Sano is my favorite tournament on the entire slate.
