MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 6/28/2017

Last Updated: 6/28/2017 – 10:11 AM CT

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!

Top Plays

Stephen Strasburg

Strasburg is the top pitcher of the day, even against the Cubs offense. Like I wrote yesterday when discussing Max Scherzer, the Cubs are much worse of an offense than public perception. They rank 24th in wRC+ and have the 11th highest strikeout percentage against righties. Strasburg has the lowest OTT on the day and is a fairly significant favorite. He’s a solid cash game play, and a great tournament play on Wednesday.

Rick Porcello

Porcello will face a Twins offense that is 14th in strikeout percentage and 12th in wRC+ against righties. While it’s not a great matchup, Porcello’s price make him interesting in both cash games and tournaments. Porcello is just $6,800 on DraftKings, so if you pair him with Strasburg, you’ll leave enough salary to fit in some of the top bats. Porcello has given up 132 hits this year in sixteen starts, so this matchup isn’t without risk, but the price may just be too good to pass up on 2016’s Cy Young award winner.

Carlos Rodon

Rodon is making his first start of the season and will get a tough test against the powerful Yankees’ offense. The Yankees are second in wRC+ on the season, but are worst against lefties ranking 13th. They strike out the 9th most against lefties at 23.3%. This comes down to Rodon being way more talented than a $5,600 price tag on DraftKings. We’ll have to watch to see if he’s on a pitch count, but if he can throw even 80 pitches tomorrow, he has the strikeout upside and talent to pay off his modest salary.

Josh Donaldson/Jose Bautista

The Blue Jays are in a good spot against lefty Wade Miley. They have the second highest team run total on the slate and both Donaldson and Bautista are underpriced. I love the upside of a Blue Jays stack in tournaments and will capitalize on the cheap prices of Donaldson and Bautista. They’ll both have the platoon advantage and have home run upside in this matchup.

 Paul Goldschmidt

Goldschmidt will face Adam Wainwright in Chase Field. If you can fit the $5,600 price tag into your lineups Goldschmidt is the top overall play on the slate. With the high temperature, the roof should be closed, but it’s still a solid matchup for power and run production. Goldschmidt has the highest Run Scored+RBI projection on the entire slate, so he should be in the middle of the Diamondbacks team run total of five.

Notes

Miguel Cabrera is in a great spot, but has been too cold to use in cash games. Consider him a top tournament option.

Eric Thames is another player who’s in a fantastic spot, but has 15 strikeouts and four hits in his last ten games. He’s another top tournament play and qualifies at first base and in the outfield.

Giancarlo Stanton is too cheap again at $4,200 and will have the platoon advantage against Steven Matz.

The pitching chart will be updated often. Make sure to check back for the newest information, especially if a column is currently incomplete!
