MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 7/5/2017

Last Updated: 7/5/2017 – 10:00 AM CT

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!

Top Plays

Alex Wood

Wood has a great matchup against the Diamondbacks in Dodger Stadium. The Diamondbacks have the 7th highest strikeout rate against lefties and the 2nd worst wRC+. They take a huge park hit and Wood is one of the best pitchers in baseball. He costs $700 less than Jacob deGrom who has a much tougher matchup and a worse park. Once again, the only knock on Wood is his pitch count. He’ll throw around 90 pitches, but should be able to reach value. He’s my favorite pitcher on the slate, and will be my SP1 on DraftKings.

Jacob deGrom

DeGrom is the tournament pivot from Wood. He’s more expensive, has the worse matchup, and a OTT of four. I won’t be on him in cash games, but will have some tournament exposure. He’s pitched well over his last four starts, reaching 31 DK points in each start, including one against the Nationals, so the upside is definitely there.

Trevor Bauer

Bauer is usually a pitcher I use in tournaments but avoid in cash games due to his volatility. On Wednesday, he’s the cheapest pitcher I’m not scared to use and has plenty of upside in this matchup. The Padres strike out 25.6% of the time against righties, highest in the league. While the Padres get a park upgrade, their limited wRC+ comforts me. Bauer has the second lowest OTT tomorrow, which is also reassuring. The strikeouts will be there, so if Bauer can limit runs, he’ll be a great SP2 on DraftKings.

Brian Dozier/Miguel Sano

The Twins are in a great spot against Patrick Bridwell. They’ll face him in Target Field and have a team run total of 5.5. Dozier is underpriced at $4,100 and is the first hitter I’m locking into my cash game lineup. Miguel Sano has the highest home run projection on the entire slate, and even though he’s priced up, it’s hard to ignore him. The Twins are my favorite stack in tournaments, and Dozier, Sano and Jason Castro are in play for cash games.

Coors Bats

I’m not a huge fan of the Reds side today. Scott Schebler is the only player I’m currently considering for cash games from the Reds. Jon Gray is a solid pitcher, and while the Reds still have a team run total of 5.5, their prices make it difficult for me to fit them into my cash game lineup. On the Rockies side, Trevor Story continues to project well, and disappoint. I’ll use him in tournaments, but he’s too cold for cash games. Nolan Arenado is a great tournament play, but I’ll be locked on to Sano in cash games. Charlie Blackmon has the top overall projection on the slate, but is priced at $5,500. If I can fit him, I’d like to use him in cash games. Carlos Gonzalez is a near lock at just $3,400. He should bat 5th and will have an opportunity to drive in runs considering the Rockies have the highest team run total on the day.

Notes

Kris Bryant is cheap at $3,900. If it wasn’t for Sano, Bryant would be my cash game third baseman.

Freddie Freeman is back and is a great tournament play against Joe Musgrove in SunTrust Park.

I’m not exactly sure why Albert Pujols is only $2,900 on DraftKings, but using him at first base opens up a lot of salary to fit in Twins and Rockies bats.

If you’re playing the all-day slate, Sonny Gray is a safe SP2 on DraftKings.

The pitching chart will be updated often. Make sure to check back for the newest information, especially if a column is currently incomplete!
