MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 8/2/2017
Last Updated: 8/2/2017 – 9:31 PM CT
The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!
Top Plays
Dallas Keuchel
Keuchel will face the Rays in Minute Maid Park. The Rays have the second highest strikeout rate against lefties at 26%. They are in the middle of the league in wRC+, but have one of the lowest team run total on the slate at just 3.5 runs. Keuchel is a heavy favorite and should be in line for the win in this game. My concern is this is only Keuchel’s second start since coming off of the DL, and he threw just 79 pitches in his first start back. He may be too risky for cash games, but I like Keuchel for tournaments if he can throw at least 90 pitches.
Masahiro Tanaka
Tanaka is the top pitcher on the early slate and makes a strong case for your SP1 on the all day slate as well. He’ll face the Tigers in Yankee Stadium. He has the lowest OTT and is the heaviest favorite on the day. The Tigers are in the middle of the league in both strikeout percentage and wRC+, but have quite a few righties in their lineup, giving Tanaka an edge. At $9,200, I like Tanaka’s chances of reaching value.
Luke Weaver
Weaver will face the Brewers in Miller Park. While it is a park downgrade for Weaver, the Brewers 25.3% strikeout rate provides plenty of upside. Weaver is the Cardinals #2 prospect, and had some solid starts for the Cardinals late last year. While it doesn’t matter for predictability in this start, Weaver has 18 strikeouts in 12 career innings against Milwaukee. For just $4,800, I have a hard time passing on Weaver in both cash games and tournaments.
Mike Trout
I have Luke Weaver locked into my lineup today, so I’ll have plenty of salary to spend on big bats. Trout is the highest projected player on the main slate today by almost two full points. He’ll face Jake Thompson in a home game in Angels Stadium. The Angels have a team run total of five, and Thompson projects to record the fewest strikeouts on the slate. Any time Trout faces a weak pitcher and should put the ball in play five times, I’ll lock him into my lineups.
Cody Bellinger
Bellinger will face Julio Teheran in SunTrust Park. He’ll have the platoon advantage and Teheran historically struggles against lefties. SunTrust Park is a great park for lefty power and Bellinger is priced reasonably at $4,500. I have Bellinger locked into my first base slot today.
Notes
Just like yesterday, Yoenis Cespedes is locked into one of my outfield spots. He’s way too cheap!
My lineup will look similar to my last few days as Robinson Cano will be locked into my second base slot. He faces Andrew Cashner, has the platoon advantage, and the Mariners have a team run total of 5.5.
The pitching chart will be updated often. Make sure to check back for the newest information, especially if a column is currently incomplete!
