DFS NBA FanDuel Starting 5 Lineup Advice 2/22/18
Welcome back DFS NBA fans. Hope everyone had a nice break from daily fantasy or you were successful at some NHL or PGA contests. I, for one, took the few days from playing to catch up on some background work on the site. If you subscribe to our newsletter, you now have more options to control when and what type of content you receive. I sent out an email explaining how you can change it, but if you missed the email, on your next newsletter, at the bottom of the email there should be a link to “manage your subscription”. Once you click that, you will have some options.

I’m also tweaking the spreadsheet a little, but that is still a work in progress. Worst case scenario, I’ll publish the non-tweaked spreadsheet for Friday’s slate.
And, finally, I added a few new writers that should have content rolling out pretty soon, as well as put up a few things for season-long fantasy baseball. We put up the industry-leading fantasy baseball mock draft tool, which you can find here. We also updated our fantasy baseball consensus rankings here. Baseball is around the corner and we will, of course, have you covered for DFS as well.
Let’s get to why you are here…
NBA DFS Legend
Nothing But Net | My top plays of the night at his position. |
Dunk | A Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside. |
Half-Court Shot | Otherwise known as a “punt play.” A Low-priced, high-upside player. |
Blocked Shot | A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.” |
**Main Slate
Guards
Nothing But Net | Stephen Curry $14,500 vs LAC
Truth be told, Russell Westbrook should be in this spot, but I hate writing an advice column to tell you the obvious plays. Westbrook will likely be the top scorer at guard tonight, but for $2,000 cheaper you can have Curry. Yes, he has been struggling lately and he didn’t look good at the All-Star game either, but something about the Clippers brings out the best in him.
I know, it’s not the same rivalry it was when the Clippers had Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, but Curry dropped 62.7 FanDuel points on them the last time they played and hasn’t had less than 50 FanDuel points against them in two seasons. This game is also the highest over/under game on the slate at a whopping 233, which may be the highest over/under I’ve seen in a while.
Dunk | Lou Williams $12,000 @ GS

In that same game, we have Sweet Lou, who last time he faced the Warriors he dropped 50 on them. Not 50 FanDuel points, 50 real-life NBA points. I’m not going to predict he does that again, but in a high-paced, high-scoring game, Lou Willaims may shoot the ball 30-plus times. At $12,000, he has tremendous upside.
Half-Court Shot | Emmanuel Mudiay $9,000
Head coach Jeff Hornacek announced that Mudiay would get more minutes going forward, that alone will put him on the DFS map at a relatively low price, but he also gets a matchup with the Magic who rank dead last for the season at FanDuel points allowed to point guards. They give up, on average, 49.42 Fanduel points on the year, and while they have faired better since the trade of Elfrid Payton, it’s fool’s gold because outside of Kemba Walker, they haven’t faced any top-flight point guards. Walker put up 49 on them in the last game before the break.
Blocked Shot | NONE
There aren’t many guards I don’t like tonight.
Honorable Mentions: Kemba Walker $14,000, Tim Hardaway Jr. $11,000, Tomas Satoransky $10,500
Forwards
Nothing But Net | Ben Simmons $14,000 @ CHI
Again, I’m trying to avoid the obvious call here with LeBron James, but I really like Simmons at a $2,000 discount over The King. The Bulls are the third worst team against the power forward position over the last four weeks, and he dropped a triple-double on them in late January en route to a 60.4 FanDuel night. The Bulls are rumored to have Paul Zipser and Christiano Felicio play more minutes, and neither are good defenders. I doubt either of them lines up to defend Simmons, but it weakens an already weak Bulls team on defense.
Dunk | Michael Beasley $12,000
The Orlando Magic are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, and while Beasley isn’t always interested in grabbing rebounds, he is capable of it. In fact, he has two double-doubles over his last three games. He could easily post a third in four games tonight.
Half-Court Shot | Larry Nance Jr. $10,500 vs WAS
I was all over Nance Jr. in the last game before the break and he paid off with 35.8 FanDuel points. I think he will be in for a similar night in Washington. The Cavs as a whole are not a very athletic team, but the trades they made helped on that front, especially in the case of LNJ. He gives the Cavs an element they have been lacking for some time with Kevin Love and/or Tristan Thompson at the four, and that’s the ability to play above the rim. He is a good rebounder, can run the floor and will be a threat to catch alley-oops or get put back dunks on every possession that he is on the court.
Blocked Shot | Otto Porter $12,500 @ CLE
Porter has struggled against the Cavs over the last two seasons, including a 19 FanDuel point outing the last time he played the Cavs. The Cavs have also played better defense since the trade deadline, which isn’t saying much cause they were terrible before, but it’s something.
Honorable Mentions: Bobby Portis $11,000, Allen Crabbe $10,000
Centers
Nothing But Net | Joel Embiid $15,000 @ CHI
Okay, I tried my hardest to avoid just giving you the top player from a position, but Embiid is in too good a spot not to play him. His likely defender will be Christiano Felicio, who is not a good — or even average — defender. Embiid will have a field day with him and we won’t have to worry about him resting, he just had a week off.
Dunk | Enes Kanter $12,500 @ ORL
As I mentioned earlier, the Magic are a terrible rebounding team and Kanter has nine straight double-doubles. I’m going to go out on a limb and say he makes it 10.
Half-Court Shot | Kosta Koufos $8,000 vs OKC
Koufos is my first true punt, but after a few good games before the break, Koufos should see between 20-to-25 minutes in this game. He may even get more of Willie Cauley-Stein gets into foul trouble trying to defend the bulldog, Steven Adams, down low. Koufos is pretty risky, but at $8,000, he might be worth the risk.
Blocked Shot | DeAndre Jordan $13,000 @ GS
Jordan has been terrible against the Warriors over the last two years, having never scored over 34 FanDuel points agasint them in two seasons. I don’t have any reason to belevie that will change tonight.
Honorable Mentions: Dwight Howard $14,000, Steven Adams $12,000
