DFS NBA FanDuel Starting 5 Lineup Advice DATE

Well, last night was terrible. All my lineups were water logged by the leak in the Pelicans ceiling. I had exposure to that game in some form or fashion in all three of the lineups I ran last night. I emailed FanDuel requesting a refund of some kind, but I’m very doubtful anything will come of it.

No sense crying over spilled milk, or water, on to tonight’s slate. We have good sized six-game slate to work with tonight, with a really juicy Lakers/Thunder matchup as the late game. For fans of the spreadsheet, I will try to have that up today before noon, be sure to check it out here. Let’s break down tonight…

NBA DFS Legend

Nothing But NetMy top plays of the night at his position.
DunkA Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.
Half-Court ShotOtherwise known as a “punt play.” A Low-priced, high-upside player.
Blocked Shot A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.”

Guards

Nothing But Net | Bradley Beal $13,500 vs BOS

NBA FanDuel Starting 5 Lineup 2/8/18

If we exclude the first three games in last year’s playoff series, Beal has played very well against the Celtics. In fact, he put up 40 Fanduel points on them earlier in the year. With John Wall out of the lineup, the Wizards have look to Beal to carry them, and he has done just that. He has scored at least 45 Fanduel points in five of his last seven games while playing close to 40 minutes a night. The Celtics are tough on paper against both guard spots, but it hasn’t hurt Beal’s numbers yet and I don’t expect it to tonight either.

Dunk | Josh Hart $11,500 vs OKC

This game is by far my most favorite game on the slate. This should be one of the more fast-paced games and will likely sport one of the higher over/unders. If Westbrook were to miss this game, the spread will likely be pretty small as well. Hart now has three straight games with 34 or more FanDuel points and has had a double-double in each of those three games. The Thunder will prove to be a stiff test, especially if he plays small forward and has to contend with Paul George, but his price tag is appealing.

Half-Court Shot | Jordan Clarkson $10,500 vs OKC

Clarkson has been coming off the bench and hasn’t played particularly well for about two weeks, but if he can get it going, he becomes instant offense and will score in bunches. He is a poor man’s Lou Williams when he comes to scoring off the bench. Being part of the second unit will likely help his matchup too, he won’t have to contend as much with the Thunders great perimeter defense that is fresh off shutting down the vaunted Golden State Warriors offense a few nights ago.

Blocked Shot | Stephen Curry $14,500 vs DAL

The point guard spot is so loaded with talent from top to bottom that I don’t feel the need to pay a premium price for a guy that has struggled lately, is playing one of the slowest paced teams in the league, and plays for a coach that called the team “mentally tired”. Don’t get me wrong, Curry is always a threat to go off, but if I’m splitting hairs, I prefer Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal over Curry tonight.

Honorable Mentions: Dennis Schroder $12,500, Kemba Walker $13,000

Nothing But Net | Paul George $13,500 @ LAL

PG13 is my lock of the night. Plug him into your lineup and build from there. Why do I like him so much? One, Westbrook may sit this game out making PG the No. 1 option on the team. Two, this game is in L.A., Paul George’s hometown and the place, many believe, he will be playing next season. Traditionally, Paul George has played well in L.A. and likely wants to show-off to a team he might be playing for next year.

Dunk | Brandon Ingram $12,500 vs OKC

Here we are with this game again. You could likely build a lineup completely with players from this game and likely cash in 5050s. Ingram looks to be back to being the No. 1 option on the team again, and with Hart starting, it leaves Ingram to handle the ball more, which is always a good thing to have when you are trying to score fantasy points. The Thunder, again, are a tough defense, but usage — and the overall pace of this game — should have Ingram as one of the top mid-tier options tonight.

Half-Court Shot | Kelly Oubre Jr. $9,000 vs BOS

Living here in D.C. as I do, Oubre has been involved in a lot of trade speculation. Nothing completely concrete yet, but if I’m hearing these rumors, so is he. He can go one of two routes with his play on the court, play well while you audition for other possible suitors or play well to convince the Wizards to keep him, either way, that’s good for us.

Blocked Shot | Otto Porter Jr. $12,000 vs BOS

Porter is too jump shot dependant that he will struggle against a very good perimeter defensive team.

Honorable Mentions: Jerami Grant $10,000, Kyle Kuzma $9,000, Mario Hezonja $10,000

Centers

NBA FanDuel Starting 5 Lineup 2/8/18

Nothing But Net | Dwight Howard $13,000 @ POR

Howard is head and shoulders better than any other center on this slate. He failed to get a double-double in his last game, something he had done in the 12 straight games prior to the game in Denver. The Blazers are a good defensive team, but one area they struggle in is rebounding, giving up over 16 per game to the center position on a per 48 average. Howard will start a new string of double-doubles starting tonight, mark my words.

Dunk | Steven Adams $12,000 @ LAL

Adams just finished man-handling the Golden State Warriors’ smallish frontcourt and now gets the Lakers smallish frontcourt for the second time in three games. Adams does not have the upside as some of the other centers in the league, but you can pretty much pencil him in for 30-plus a night. Tonight will be no different.

Half-Court Shot | Dewayne Dedmon $9,500 @ ORL

With the Hawks back to full strength, Dedmon may no longer be a viable option based on lack of minutes, but when you are as bad as the Magic are at defending the center position the Hawks could bring back former Hawks’ center Bob Petit and he could get you 15 and 10 — and he is 85 years old. Dedmon is too risky for cash games, but as a GPP punt that will allow you to pay up elsewhere, he could be a sneaky option.

Blocked Shot | Nikola Vucevic $13,000 vs ATL

Okay, this is a bit of a cop-out. Vuc may not even play, and if he does, will likely be limited, but all of the centers on this slate are playable. Vuc is the only one I wouldn’t touch even is he does play.

Honorable Mentions: Julius Randle $12,500, Marcin Gortat $8,500
