DFS NFL DraftKings/FanDuel Lineup Advice 8/16/19 (Preseason)
With limited time to write today, the analysis will be short. Last night’s slate was a tough one for me. I hit on a few good ones like Ryan Finley, Auden Tate and Justice Hill, but I had way more misses than I care to admit. I’m going to bounce back tonight.
And before we get to the calls for today, I want to bring up our Week 1 Charity contest again. DraftKings has given us some prizes to give away and we are raising money for @FFCares. We just hit $600 yesterday and we have about two weeks to double that. To join you have to register at GoingFor2.com/charity.
Okay, let’s get to today’s slate…
Quarterbacks
Josh Rosen (MIA)
Apropos of nothing I’d be shocked if Josh Rosen isn’t starting tonight. Can’t have him work with the 1’s all week, getting chemistry with them thru 6 hours of practices vs Tampa, and then suddenly, “Whoops sorry you’re gettin bumped back to the 2’s, g’luck!” That would be weird.

Ryan Griffin (TB)
Griffin had a “regular season” stat line last week going 26-for-43 330 yards a TD. I doubt he gets that much playing time again, but I’d settle for even half that stat line.
Matt Barkley (BUF)

Josh Allen won’t play more than a quarter and Tyree Jackson looked terrible last week. Barkley isn’t a bad backup QB and should be able to put up some decent numbers — at least in terms of preseason numbers.
Bears QB
I’ll be paying close attention to Twitter to see what the Bears decide to do at QB. They only have three QBs on the roster, Mitch Trubisky won’t play much and Chase Daniel has pretty much locked up the backup role, that could mean more snaps for Tyler Bray.
Running Backs
Devin Singletary (BUF)
Frank Gore started last week’s game and Shady McCoy didn’t see the field. I’d expect that to be reversed this week. McCoy will get the start and Gore will either sit out entirely or play a limited role. Singletary was given a good workload last week and I’d expect him to see at least 40 percent of the snaps again this week.
This is how Devin Singletary runs the ball through the hole 👀.. I’ll allow it #Bills pic.twitter.com/Cs6ykWFb0Q

Bruce Anderson (TB)
Anderson barely saw the field last week playing only 18 percent of the snaps, while Dare Ogunbowale played over 40 percent. I’d expect the Bucs to get Anderson some more work in this game before they likely cut him after Week 4. This will be Anderson’s only shot to make the team, he’d better take advantage of the opportunity.
Jordan Scarlett
Scarlett didn’t play at all last week while fellow rookie Elijah Holyfield scored two TDs. I would expect the Panthers to get Scarlett some work in this game as he is the RB they actually drafted compared to Holyfield that went undrafted.
ICYMI: Guess where Panthers rookie Jordan Scarlett watched what should have been his NFL debut? Hint: “It sucked.”
But Scarlett should see heavy snaps Friday, where he’ll finally get to put his impressive training camp to good use –https://t.co/rK68Bx7j2a

Rod Smith/Paul Perkins (NYG)
Wide Receivers
Riley Ridley (CHI)
Ridley didn’t even see the field last week, I’d expect him to get a ton of snaps tonight.
People are sleeping on Riley Ridley. They shouldn’t be 🐻⬇️ pic.twitter.com/HYPxb85IFw

Darius Slayton (NYG)
I’ll be paying attention to Twitter for this one. Slayton has all the tools to be a great WR in this league, I’m anxious to see what he can do…
If Darius Slayton plays tomorrow night, keep an eye out for him.
Slayton and TJ Jones are two exciting players that can make an impact. I fully expect them to play a role in 2019.
Who’s excited for some more football?! 1 week closer…#giantschat
— Alex Wilson (@AlexWilsonESM) August 15, 2019
Spencer Schnell (TB)
Schnell is the perfect stack with Ryan Griffin as they both hooked up a ton last week and Schnell put up 7 for 119 on 9 targets.
Bobo Wilson (TB)
Wilson is another good option in the Bucs offense, he has been impressing in camp and had 5 targets last week.
Ray-Ray McCloud III (BUF)
McCloud has been playing well in practice but may have slipped on the depth chart after his sub-par Week 1. He will get a chance to show what he can do again tonight, or he could be on his way out of Buffalo.
Ray-Ray McCloud had the early lead in camp, but it appears Isaiah McKenzie has caught up to him. #Bills https://t.co/iaJnUtk0gx
— Bradley Gelber (@BradleyGelber) August 11, 2019
David Sills (BUF)
A make or break game for Sills who had a tough drop in last week’s game.
3 – #Bills depth WRs
A crucial game for players like Cam Phillips, Victor Bolden, Duke Williams, David Sills & Nick Easley. The third preseason game doesn’t provide a ton of time to the third unit, so if they want to make the team or PS, they need to maximize their snaps tonight
— Joe Buscaglia (@JoeBuscaglia) August 16, 2019
Preston Williams (MIA)
As last week’s preseason MVP, there is no need to explain this one. He could be a star in the making.
#Dolphins UDFA Preston Williams is considered a “lock” to make the roster. Via teammate Kenny Stills: “He’s a first-round talent. He’s going to be someone to deal with in this league for a long time.” Williams needs to be owned in all Dynasty formats: https://t.co/abEo2aQtGs

Tight Ends
Mike Gesicki (MIA)
Gesicki has struggled mightily in camp, but the Dolphins spent a second-round pick on him in 2018, they won’t give up on him that easily. He needs to show he can be a player in this league soon, or he might find himself out of a starting job.
Tommy Sweeney (BUF)
The options at TE tonight are quite terrible. Sweeney had one catch last week, if he has one catch this week he might be the best option at TE — it’s that bad.
Chris Manhertz (CAR)
Greg Olsen won’t play and Ian Thomas is injured, leaving Manhertz as the best pass-catching option at TE for the Panthers. Maybe ESPN’s Joe Tessitore will get his name right this year?
Chris Manhertz has been more involved in the passing game this week against his former team. And he still hears that name every time:
“When I catch passes, I’m Martinez. When I block, I’m Manhertz.”https://t.co/ORwkTOXory

Defense
Chicago Bears v NYG
I wouldn’t be scared of any of the Giants QBs if I was the Bears defense.
Carolina Panthers v BUF
QBs Matt Barkley and Tyree Jackson make the Panthers my chalk defense.
