DFS XFL DraftKings Lineup Advice Week 1

DFS XFL DraftKings Lineup Advice Week 1

What’s up GF2 crew. I am back from a long hiatus from writing, and I’m excited to bring you my newest weekly column. That’s right, XFL DFS. It is getting a lot of hype on the Twitterverse, and I’ve already drafted three XFL seasonal leagues. Yes, I have a problem, but lucky for you, you get to benefit from my problem.

We will be doing a live Armchair Fantasy Show podcast for XFL DFS every Friday at 9:30pm EST on YouTube. We also do a Dynasty Show on Tuesday’s. You can subscribe and watch us here. And, we syndicated on all major podcast networks. Now let’s get to why you’re here…

Quarterbacks

XFL DFS DraftKings Week 1

Explosive PlayMy top play for the position
Deep ThreatA deep threat is a second or third tier player that will outperform their price on FanDuel/DraftKings.
Hail MaryAlso know as a punt, a Hail Mary is a cheap, low-owned player with a ton of upside. Great for GPP's.
Missed TackleA missed tackle is a first or second tier player that I’ll be fading in my contests.

Explosive Play | Cardale Jones (DC) $10,200 vs. SEA

With Landry Jones and Josh Johnson as two of the other top four QBs both expected to miss Week 1, Jones becomes the only “elite” option at QB. His big arm will complement the speedy WR corps the Defenders have with Rashard Ross, Simmie Cobbs and Eli Rogers.

Deep Threat | Phillip Walker (HOU) $7,800 vs. LA

Walker beat out Connor Cook in a tight quarterback camp battle, and with that comes the starting job for a “Run-and-Shoot” offense — if you’re not old enough to remember that offense, it was the “Air Raid” before there was an Air Raid offense. In other words, a pass-first offense and great for a quarterbacks fantasy numbers.

Hail Mary | Charles Kanoff (LA) $6,000 @ HOU

Kanoff is only viable if he gets the start over injured Josh Johnson. The LA Wildcats plan to use an Air Raid offense, and likely won’t change their gameplan even if their starter is out. I wasn’t able to find any over/under betting lines, but I’d be willing to bet this game –with a Run-and-Shoot offense and an Air Raid offense in the same game —  would have the highest total on the slate…and I’d bet the over.

Missed Tackle | Brandon Silvers (SEA) $8,000 @ DC

Silvers seems to be the consensus “worst” starting QB in the league, and he is playing what many think could be the best defense. No thanks.

Explosive Play | Jhurell Pressley (DC) $7,900 vs. SEA

Pressley was the leading rusher in the now-defunct AAF, and he has a great opportunity to lead this league in rushing as well. The Defenders look like one of the better teams, at least on paper, and Pressley should get plenty of chances to score.

Deep Threat | Cameron Artis-Payne (DAL) $6,800 vs. STL

Former Carolina Panthers RB, Artis-Payne has shown us in the NFL that he is a capable back when given the opportunity. With his backfield mate, Lance Dunbar, expected to miss Week 1, Artis Payne should get a massive workload.

Hail Mary | Darius Victor (NY) $3,700 vs. TB

Tim Cook is listed as the starter, but he and Victor split carries nearly 50-50 in camp, making Victor a steal at $3,700 if he indeed gets 50 percent of the game-time snaps.

Missed Tackle | Kenneth Farrow (SEA) $7,200 @ DC

Farrow isn’t listed as a starter in the final depth charts. I’m taking these depth charts with a grain of salt, but it would be a huge risk to spend over 7k on a guy who may not be “the man” in this offense.

Explosive Play | Sammie Coates (HOU) $9,300 vs. LA

Run-and-shoot offense, likely high scoring game, No. 1 receiver in this offense, and can flat out fly with 4.4 speed…what’s not to like?

His hands.

Okay, but other than that, he is a good receiver for this offense and he should be one of the better fantasy producers in the league this season.

Deep Threat | Jeff Badet (DAL) $8,800 STL

Badet may be the fastest player in the league as he ran a sub-4.4 in his Pro Day and his Burst Score is in the 93rd percentile. His upside will be limited somewhat by second-string QB Charles Kanoff, but speed kills and Badet has that in spades.

Hail Mary | Malachi Dupre (DC) $3,000 vs. SEA

Dupre wasn’t even on my radar until the XFL released their official depth charts and Dupre was listed as a starter, ahead of Rashard Ross, Eli Rogers and Simmie Cobbs. I still expect those three to see a lot of snaps, but at 3k Dupre is worth a shot.

Missed Tackle | Nelson Spruce (LA) $8,500 @ HOU

I originally had Spruce in my “Deep Threat” slot until I did some more research. One, he is slow, running a 4.69-40. Two, he isn’t a big-bodied wide receiver checking in at 6-foot-1, which is small by any means but isn’t big either.

  1. Rashad Ross $10,400
  2. Mekale McKay $9,900

Explosive Play | DC Defenders $4,200 vs. SEA

Oddshark has the Seattle Dragons as the worst team in the XFL with the lowest chance to win it all. On the flip-side, they have the Defenders as one of the top teams, and everyone has been raving about their defense.

Deep Threat |  Houston Roughnecks $3,200 vs. LA

LA Wildcats will likely be trotting out a second-string QB to run an Air Raid offense. There will be picks and sacks aplenty for the Roughnecks. I said this game will be high-scoring but expect a ton of turnovers on both sides for the number of times they want to throw the ball.

Hail Mary | St. Louis Battlehawks $3,100 @ DAL

The Dallas Renegades are also likely to trot out a back QB, advantage defense.

Missed Tackle | Dallas Renegades $4,700 vs. STL

This has nothing to do with the Dallas defense, which very well could be the best defense in the league, but to pay $4,700 — $500 more than the next closest team — I want a sure thing, and I don’t think we have any sure things in the XFL right now.
