Fanduel MLB Lineup Advice 5/19
We got back to our winning ways on Monday, with a strong showing from Matt Harvey and Albert Pujols! Tuesday’s large slate stands between us and two straight days of cashing, so let’s hop into the analysis!
Pitchers
James Shields, SD – $8,800
The Cubs are the most strikeout-prone team in the league, and it just so happens that James Shields is a K aficionado. This game is also being played in spacious Petco Park, which can only benefit Shields’ potential. The former Royal is a better pitcher at home, and even after a couple of rough outings opponents are only hitting .250 against him. Expect Big Game James to rack up the strikeouts on Thursday and he should be a very valuable asset.
Yordano Ventura, KC – $7,900
If you’re looking to save even more cash at the pitcher position, look no further than royals ace Yordano Ventura. In his rookie season last year Ventura played second star behind the man above, but now he is the go-to guy in Kansas City and I think he’ll have an excellent start against the boom or bust Reds on Tuesday. It pains me to say this, but the Reds are just simply a lousy hitting team and they have a lot of stinkers like Billy Hamilton and Jay Bruce. They’re batting .240 as a team and nearly have 300 strikeouts, and those numbers should continue to magnify against Ventura. This is the riskier of my two recommendations, but if you’re feeling in a frisky mood definitely roll with the Royals ace and you won’t be disappointed.
Other options: Sonny Gray (OAK), Michael Wacha (STL), Jeremy Hellickson (ARI)
Hitters
Brandon Belt – 1B (SF) – $3,500
The San Francisco first baseman has been scalding hot over his last three games, with 9 hits and 3 homers over that span. He has another good matchup on Tuesday going up against righty Carlos Frias of the Dodgers. Belt is walking at a better rate in 2015, implying that his discipline at the plate has improved nicely. Look for Belt to have another solid game on Tuesday, and you’re going to want to have him in your lineups since he’s probably going to be highly owned.
Ben Revere – OF (PHI) – $3,000

Revere had an excellent game on Monday in the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field against righty Jordan Lyles, going 3-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base. The Phillies outfielder has another great matchup on Tuesday evening against unimpressive righty Chad Bettis for the Colorado Rockies. You have to love the speed and OBP potential of Revere, and hitting at the top of the hot Philadelphia lineup will give him more opportunities for runs. Combine all of this with a cheap price and the Coors Field factor, and Revere is a slam dunk play for Tuesday.
Other options: Freddie Freeman – 1B (ATL), Alex Rodriguez – 3B (NYY), Jhonny Peralta – SS (STL)
Recommended Stacks
