Fantasy Basketball: Add’em or Drop’em for 1/15/16

Alright, GF2 fans, it’s time for my weekly Add’em or Drop’em players for season long fantasy basketball! Working the waiver wire is an ultra-important task in order to achieve season long glory. I’m here to help you guys decide which players deserve a spot on your fantasy squad and who should be kicked to the curb. I’m going to give you all five guys, who you should take a closer look at.

So, here’s my Add’em or Drop’em players for the week:

Julius Randle, Lakers PF

Randle is owned in 75.2 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Randle was a guy who I quickly got excited about at the beginning of this NBA season, but he’s been very unproductive lately. So far this season, he has averaged 10.6 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 26.4 minutes per game. Over his last five games, though, he has only managed 5.6 points on 28 percent shooting and 9.0 rebounds in 25 minutes per contest. Larry Nance Jr. has been a much better option for Los Angeles, which is potentially fazing Randle out.

Verdict: Drop’em

Amir Johnson, Celtics PF

Johnson is owned in 47.0 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Johnson is the complete opposite of the guy we just talked about. He was slightly underwhelming at the beginning of this season but has quickly made a name for himself in Boston. Over his last five games, Johnson has averaged 13.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.0 blocks in 28.0 minutes per game. He’s actually coming off of a 14 point and 18 rebound game on Wednesday night.

Verdict: Add’em

Rodney Hood, Jazz SGfantasy basketball

Hood is owned in 52.9 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Hood has had such an up and down season thus far, making him way too unpredictable for season long purposes. So far this year, he has averaged 13.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 30.1 minutes per game. Yes, he’s receiving a ton of time on the court, but he just doesn’t do a lot of damage every single game. Also, he’s a lot like Anthony Davis, meaning that he could get hurt at any second.

Verdict: Drop’em

Ian Mahinmi, Pacers C

Mahinmi is owned in 36.8 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. If you guys are looking for some consistent play from a big man, look no further that this guy! This year, Mahinmi has averaged a solid 11.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks in 25 minutes per game. Just think if he saw, even more, time on the court! He’s easily the best rim protector for Indiana and will continue to be an intricate part of this Pacers squad.

Verdict: Add’em

fantasy basketballGorgui Dieng, Wolves C

Dieng is owned in 49.4 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues this season. Dieng reminds me a lot of Randle for the fact that they both had nice starts to the year but quickly fizzled out. This season, he has averaged 8.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 24.5 minutes per contest. Guys such as veteran Kevin Garnett and Karl-Anthony Towns have been much more productive than Dieng. Unless a major injury takes place in Minnesota, I’m cutting my losses with this guy.

Verdict: Drop’em
