Fantasy Football: Week 12 Cut’em or Keep’em

It’s time once again for my Cut’em or Keep’em players for the week! Week 11 has come to a close and like always there are a few players who we’re all on the fence about for fantasy purposes. This has been a crazy season with all the big name injuries, so making sure you have the right guys on your roster is more important than ever. From T.J. Yeldon to Jordan Matthews there are players out there who could make or break your season.

So, here’s my Week 12 Cut’em or Keep’em players:

T.J. Yeldon, Jaguars RB

Yeldon is owned in 92.6 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. With more big-name NFL running backs such as Devonta Freeman and Justin Forsett going down due to injury, saving some of the lower-tier guys for your roster is very important. Yes, Yeldon’s rookie campaign hasn’t been massively successful, but he has been solid overall. So far this season, he has rushed 147 times for 585 yards and a score. Yeldon has also been involved within Jacksonville’s passing game as well, catching 27 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown. The Jaguars will face off against the Colts and Saints during your fantasy playoff run, which is good news for Yeldon owners.

Verdict: Keep’em

Martellus Bennett, Bears TE

Bennett is owned in 92.1 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. It’s a proven fact that after the month of September Bennett disappears from the fantasy world. Once again this season he has quickly become irrelevant once again in the months of October and November. In 2015, Bennett has caught 50 balls for 425 yards and three touchdowns. The colder it gets in the Windy Cindy will most likely spell doom for Bennett’s owners for the rest of the fantasy season.

Verdict: Cut’em

Frank Gore, Colts RB

Gore is owned in 97.0 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. I had high hopes that Gore would be the final piece of the puzzle for this Colts offense this year, but with an injury riddled season things just haven’t played out well. In his first season with Indy, Gore has rushed 162 times for 633 yards and four touchdowns. Without Andrew Luck potentially for the rest of our fantasy season, Gore will be heavily relied on going forward, so I think he has a shot to turn things around. He also gets to face off against weak defenses in Jacksonville and Miami during your fantasy playoffs.

Verdict: Keep’em

Jordan Matthews, Eagles WR

Matthews is owned in 90.8 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. This Chip Kelly offense was supposed to be the most explosive one this season, but it’s mostly fallen flat on its face. This season, Matthews has caught 55 passes for 565 yards and two touchdowns. It doesn’t help his fantasy value knowing that Mark Sanchez will be the one throwing him the ball, they just don’t have great chemistry on the football field. Also, Matthews doesn’t have the best fantasy playoff schedule, traveling to New England in December and facing off against the Cardinals.

Verdict: Cut’em

Rishard Matthews, Dolphins WR

Matthews is owned in 63.9 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. Matthews is a lower owned guy who I think should at least hold a roster spot on your squad. This year, he has caught 43 passes for 662 yards and four scores. Jarvis Landry can’t catch all of Ryan Tannehill’s passes, so he has some fantasy relevant value. Matthews did have an abysmal Week 11 versus Dallas, where he caught just one pass for 15 yards, but I believe he’ll bounce back from this performance. The Dolphins will face off against the Giants and Ravens during our fantasy playoffs, which are both favorable matchups for wide receivers.

Verdict: Keep’em
