Fantasy Football: Week 7 Cut’em or Keep’em

Alright, fantasy football lovers, it’s time for my latest Cut’em or Keep’em players for Week 7. Each of these players haven’t had the greatest starts to their 2015 season, so it’s time to decide what we all should do with them. From rookie Chargers’ running back Melvin Gordon to veteran Redskins running back Alfred Morris, we have some tough decisions to make.

So, here’s my Week 7 Cut’em or Keep’em players:

Melvin Gordon, RB San Diego Chargers

Gordon is owned at 94.4 percent in ESPN fantasy football leagues. He has got off to a tough start to his rookie season, losing four fumbles in his first six career regular season games. So far this season, he has rushed 78 times for 299 yards and no touchdowns. Between his fumbling issues and quarterback Phillip Rivers throwing the ball all over the field every week, Gordon hasn’t been productive for the fantasy world. He also has to split touches with veteran Danny Woodhead weekly and backup running back Brandon Oliver looked great in Week 6. As much as I hate to say it, Gordon isn’t a necessity for your fantasy squad.

Verdict: Cut’em

Ronnie Hillman, RB Denver Broncos

Hillman is owned at 73.1 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. Yes, he’s splitting carries with fellow Broncos running back C.J. Anderson, but he’s outperforming him every week. In 2015, Hillman has rushed 66 times for 323 yards and two scores. Peyton Manning just hasn’t been very good this season, so I see Denver leaning more and more on Hillman further into the season. Even though Anderson was most likely a 1st or 2nd Round pick for most of you, Hillman just seems to be the better overall running back in 2015.

Verdict: Keep’em

Ameer Abdullah, RB Detroit Lions

Abdullah is owned in 83.8 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. During the preseason, I was the engineer of the Abdullah hype train but have quickly jumped off this year. This season, he has rushed 54 times for 179 yards and a touchdown. The rushing game wasn’t what I was excited about, though, it was the passing game he should’ve excelled in. In 2015, Abdullah has only caught 13 balls for 113 yards and a touchdown. I truly thought he would be the next Reggie Bush style of running back who would bring some excitement back to Detroit. As of right now, Theo Riddick is out playing him and Joique Bell will most likely be back from injury soon, so I’ve lost hope in Abdullah.

Verdict: Cut’em

Willie Snead, WR New Orleans Saints

Snead is owned in 66.6 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. Snead burst onto the scene this year as an undrafted rookie for the Saints. So far this season, he has caught 26 passes for 436 yards and one touchdown. Snead has averaged right at 72.7 yards per game but had an off game in Week 6. Fantasy owners tend to let go of a lower tier guy like Snead after one bad game, but I’m here to persuade you otherwise. He has an awesome fantasy playoff schedule with match-ups against Tampa Bay and Jacksonville, so he could be a big start those weeks.

Verdict: Keep’em

Alfred Morris, RB Washington Redskins

Morris is owned in 83.8 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. Even with the recent injury of rookie running back Matt Jones, I’m still not a believer in Morris going forward. This season, he has rushed 85 times for 297 yards and no scores. Morris has absolutely zero value in PPR formats and is quickly losing my trust in standard scoring formats as well. Fellow Washington running back Chris Thompson seems to be the better option going forward, but I for one won’t be owning any Redskins running backs in 2015. If I was a Morris owner, I’d go shopping on the waiver wire for Week 7.

Verdict: Cut’em
