Fantasy Football Week 8 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense
Before diving into Week 8’s streamers, let’s take account of Week 7’s results. (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).
Quarterback: Justin Herbert-38.48 points
Tight End: Logan Thomas-14 points
Team Defense: Philadelphia Eagles-9 points
Here are Week 8’s quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers. The Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Washington Football Team are on a bye this week.
Quarterback: Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons (Thursday night)
After a rough outing against the Chicago Bears in Week 6, Bridgewater rebounded solidly against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7 (23-for-28 for 254 yards and two touchdowns). He has topped 19 fantasy points and had multiple passing touchdowns in three of his last four games, and a great matchup is on tap for Week 8.
The Atlanta Falcons held Matthew Stafford to one touchdown pass in Week 7 (the game-winner, as it were). But he was the fourth straight quarterback to throw for more than 310 yards against them, and they’ve allowed the most touchdown passes in the league (19). In Week 5, Bridgewater had 313 yards and two touchdown passes against the Falcons (20.82 fantasy points, Yahoo! scoring).
Bridgewater has been a streaming candidate pretty much all season. In Week 8, he finally gets the nod as my top quarterback streamer.

Others To Consider: Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys (Sunday night; check ownership); Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders at Cleveland Browns; Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks; Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Tennessee Titans (check ownership); Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers; Daniel Jones, New York Giants vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Monday night); Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins vs. Los Angeles Rams
Tight End: Richard Rodgers, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys (Sunday night)
With Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz both out with ankle injuries, Rodgers became the Eagles’ No. 1 tight end in Week 7. He delivered six catches for 85 yards against the New York Giants, and he’s lined up to succeed again in Week 8.
It’s no secret how bad the Dallas Cowboys’ defense has been this season, and they are a bottom-10 fantasy defense against tight ends. In seven games, eight tight ends have posted at least 7.0 PPR fantasy points against them-five of them have scored touchdowns, five have had at least four catches and three have had 60 or more yards. Two have done all three, including my Week 7 streamer Logan Thomas (four catches for 60 yards and a touchdown).

The Eagles may get Goedert back after their Week 9 bye, so Rodgers may only have two weeks as the No. 1 tight end. But we’re not looking long-term here, and Rodgers gets the edge as my top tight end streamer for Week 8.

Others To Consider: Trey Burton, Indianapolis Colts at Detroit Lions; Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons; Harrison Bryant, Cleveland Browns vs. Las Vegas Raiders; Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams at Miami Dolphins; Tyler Kroft, Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots (check status of Dawson Knox)
Team Defense: Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Packers’ defense had a solid performance in Week 7, holding the Houston Texans to 20 points (all in the second half, 13 in the fourth quarter) with three sacks of Deshaun Watson and one takeaway. They have multiple sacks in five of their six games this season, while allowing 20 points or less in two of their last three, and things look promising in Week 8.
The Packers allowed 34 points to the Minnesota Vikings back in Week 1. But 24 of those points came in the fourth quarter, as Kirk Cousins padded his stats. Green Bay sacked Cousins twice in that game (including once for a safety) with one interception. Cousins has thrown multiple interceptions in three of his last five games (nine total), and he has taken multiple sacks in five of six games.
It’s a very thin week for defense streamers, with the best matchups mostly held by heavily owned units. The Packers may allow more points than would be ideal on Sunday, with potential garbage time to account for. But the opportunities Cousins will provide, in a road game against a good team, are enticing.
