Fantasy Football: Week 9 Cut’em or Keep’em
Alright, GF2 fans, it’s time once again for my Cut’em or Keep’em players for Week 9! Week 8 was an eventful one for sure, with Drew Brees and Eli Manning dueling it out to the tune of 13 total touchdowns. It was also a bad week for injuries with big names such as Le’Veon Bell and Steve Smith going down in their games. It’s time to start making those roster adjustments that will get you a few more wins for the year.
So, here’s my Week 9 Cut’em and Keep’ em players:
Jeremy Hill, RB Bengals
Hill is owned in 97 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. I was as high on Hill as anyone coming into the 2015 season, but he has vastly underachieved all season long. This season, he has rushed 89 times for 292 yards and five touchdowns. The five touchdowns really help his value in standard leagues, but his lack of yardage hurts him in PPR ones. Here’s the thing with Hill, though, he draws an excellent fantasy playoff schedule for us this year. He will face Cleveland, Pittsburgh and San Francisco during the heart of your season and can truly be a valuable fantasy asset.
Verdict: Keep’em
Carlos Hyde, RB 49ers
Hyde is owned in 95.2 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. I’ve tried so hard since Week 2 to stay positive about this guy, but my patience has finally worn thin. After a stellar start to his season, Hyde has been one of the biggest let downs among fantasy running backs. In 2015, he has rushed 115 times for 470 yards and three scores. Not only does Hyde play for one of the worst teams in the NFL, he’s also injured, making him a liability to your squad. He suffered a stress fracture in his foot in his Week 5 contest versus the Giants and will most likely need surgery at some point, so it may be time to cut your losses.
Verdict: Cut’em
Jordan Matthews, WR Eagles
Matthews is owned in 89.9 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. Coming into 2015, I was a firm believer that Matthews was going to be an absolute target monster for the Eagles and be a big time player for the fantasy world. So far this year, he has seen 63 targets, catching 39 balls for 398 yards and one touchdown. The targets have been there for Matthews, but so have the drops and poor quarterback play. For me, it’s just hard to drop a team’s number one wide receiver because there will always be potential for him to turn things around.
Verdict: Keep’em
Joseph Randle, RB Cowboys

Randle is owned in 79.6 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. As some of you may already know, I’m a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, but I’m also a realist. Randle just isn’t a number one running back caliber of player. Not only does he not have the ability to be a lead back, he’s extremely immature on and off the football field. This season, Randle has rushed the ball 76 times for 313 yards and four touchdowns. He’s dealing with a possible suspension for off the field conduct and suffered an oblique injury in Week7, so Randle is an expendable player for me. Also, Darren McFadden is playing lights out right now for Dallas!
Verdict: Cut’em
Martellus Bennett, TE Bears
Bennett is owned in 93.4 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues this season. Bennett always seems to disappear after the first four weeks every single season and this year hasn’t been any different thus far. In 2015, he has caught 37 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns. Finding a good tight end to rely on during the fantasy playoffs is always so tough, but Bennett actually has some good match-ups during that time. He will get to face San Francisco, Minnesota and Tampa Bay in three of the last four weeks of most of your fantasy seasons. I say stash him on your roster for now and plug him in to help win yourself fantasy glory!
Verdict: Keep’em
