Running Backs
Duke Johnson Jr-Browns
Coming into week 4, there was really no argument about how much skill the man possessed. I think it was pretty unanimous that he was the best back to own in this backfield. The only complaint many GMs had was that he wasn’t being used enough in the passing game.
That changed last week, over the past 2 weeks he has been targeted 17 times in the passing game. This week, he had a team high, 9 catches for one touchdown. Seeing the Browns feature Duke Johnson in the passing game is a welcomed change.
If they continue to use him in the passing game, he brings some sneaky flex value to the table.
Andre Williams-Giants
For a second straight week we watched him out out carry Jennings. However, this week, Jennings picked up the bigger plays, so on the stat sheet he has more fantasy points.
Moving forward, if he is going to pick up this many snaps and remain the goalline back, It’s hard to makes the argument that he isn’t the most valuable back in this backfield.
David Johnson-Cardinals
If you’re desperate for help at running back and the above mentioned guys aren’t available in you league, he makes a decent home run swing. However, we must understand that Ellington will be back soon and until Ellington gets back, this is Chris Johnson‘s backfield.
We watched David Johnson haul in a nice TD grab in week 4.If Ellington missed more time it is pretty clear he will the be the Cardinal’s backfield option when they want to pass.
Theo Riddick-Lions

He has passed Joique Bell, as far as the pecking order of value in this backfield goes. Especially with Joique ruled out for week 4. He only makes a good grab for PPR leagues, he does 90% of his scoring in the passing game.
Wide Receivers
Michael Crabtree-Raiders
He gave everyone a nice scare as he went down with an ankle injury in week 4. However, to everyone’s delight he returned in the 2nd half, leading the Raiders in receiving totals.
Moving forward, barring any setbacks with his ankle injury, he is the number 1 waiver wire adds for the WR position. He is basically the only must add at the position this week.
Marvin Jones-Bengals
The position is weak as far as the waiver wire is concerned. He does have the potential to have big games, he proved this in week 3 as he caught 5 balls for 94 yards and a touchdown.
His consistency hasn’t been there, this week he only caught 1 ball and in week 2 he only caught 2 passes, but, if you’re desperate for WR help and Crabtree is not available in your league. He is more than likely your best option.
Rueben Randle-Giants
He had a monster game in week 3, it was going to be hard for him to follow that performance in week 4. He did manage to salvage week 4, with another touchdown, that’s 2 in the last 2 weeks.
That big statline we saw in week 4 won’t be the norm as far as Randle is concerned. In Games where he doesn’t get the touchdown, he will leave his owners wanting more. The options at WR aren’t strong this week, so if he is available, he is as good an option as anyone.
Michael Floyd-Cardinals
It’s been slow and painful watching Michael Floyd start the season battling injuries. John Brown has gotten ahead of him in the first 3 weeks, I see no reason why we should expect Floyd to catch him.
However, it’s worth noting that Floyd got involved in the action this week, catching 5 balls for 59 yards. If your in PPR leagues, that’s decent production, for a guy who has fallen off the fantasy football radar since the season started.
I’m not expecting him to get ahead of John Brown on the depth chart, but, with the options available for the WR position on the waiver wire, he is worth a claim.
Ted Ginn Jr-Panthers
The Panthers are desperate for someone to step up and be an option at WR for Cam. This week he kinda had a freak game, catching just 2 passes, both of which were for touchdowns. He is an inconsistent option in fantasy football. We did see him have a big week, in week 3, almost totaling 100 yards. He did follow up that performance with 2 touchdowns this week.
Maybe he is about to become a more consistent threat for Cam. I believe, he is what he is. You put him in the lineup and pray he can catch a touchdown and salvage the week. He isn’t a great waiver wire add, but, I will say it again, options at the position are weak this year.
Jamison Crowder-Redskins
This is one of my favorite options on the waiver wire this week. I’m going to try and add him to some of my teams this week. He was targeted a whopping 12 times this week, bringing in 7 receptions.
With Jordan Reed getting hurt this week (what’s new), and DeSean Jackson having setbacks with his return from injury. Crowder will be heavily involved in the skins passing game, for the next couple weeks at a minimum.
I like him more as a weekly play at this time. I’m also not sure if he is usable after Djax returns, however, next week he plays the Falcons and the skins should be passing a lot, as they play from behind. I’m guessing it will be his best opportunity of the year to score some points.
Dorial Green-Beckham-Titans
He is the 2nd best long term option on this list as far as WRs are concerned. He won’t be on many GMs minds, as the Titans were on bye this week. He is an intriguing add that can help your team in the flex spot from week to week. He has by far the most upside on this list.
Tight End
Coby Fleener– Colts
The Colts have a short week, as they play this Thursday. If Dwayne Allen is a no go for week 5, Fleener ,is a very intriguing option for week 5. He finished up week 4 with 9/83/1.
With some pretty important TEs going on bye this week. I’m expecting that you won’t be the only guy looking at him. He should have plenty of room to operate as the Colts play the Texans this week.
Charles Clay-Bills
His name started popping up on my streamers article last week. Now here he is on the waiver wire list. He finished up week 4 with 9 receptions for 111 yards.
The injury caused absence of Sammy Watkins, definitely pushed some targets his way. I believe he is becoming Taylor’s most trusted option in the passing game. He is the 2nd best option on this list if your looking for a TE with staying power, rather than a bye week fill in.
Richard Rodgers-Packers
He will should have increased usage until Davante Adams can get back into the lineup. He isn’t dependent on that though. Andrew Quarless had a IR inducing injury last week, so he will be the starting TE for the packers for the rest of the year.
However, he does stand to get more targets if Adams is missing time, but, keep in mind the Packers have already stated that they don’t expect to be without Adams very long.
He caught a touchdown pass early in week 4 and finished up with 5/45/1.
He isn’t touchdown dependent as long as Adams is out, however, I do fear he will be touchdown dependent once Adams is back in the lineup.
Gary Barnidge-Browns
He has put together solid back to back weeks and warrants consideration for an add this week. Over the last 2 weeks, he posted 12/180/2, if you need tight end help he is worth an add.
Keep in mind he does play for the Browns and they are still one of the worst offenses in the league. As long as McCown is going to look his way, he can continue to produce on a weekly basis.
Quarterbacks
David Carr-Raiders
Carr has been the hottest of the available option on your waiver wire. Coming into week 4, he had 726 yards, 5 touchdowns and 1 interception. By the time his week 4 contest with the Bears was complete, he posted just 173 yards, adding 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
His week 4 performance wasn’t exactly what we were hoping for in a good matchup, but, his upside is still there. At this point, picking up David Carr to be your weekly starter, is most certainly a losing strategy. He still presents value as a matchup based start and a bye week fill in.
Marcus Mariota-Titans
After 3 weeks of action Mariota posted 833 yards, 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. We have to keep in mind half of his touchdowns came in week 1, so that number is a bit inflated.
He has still proven he has the ability to move the Titans down the field and he also brings the ability to scramble to the table, it always helps to get rushing value from your QB.
Much like Carr if you pick him up with the hopes of starting him every week, you will
more than likely have a losing season. He does present value as a matchup play and a bye week fill in.
