Quarterbacks

START

Jay Cutler-Bears

I realize you may get an uneasy feeling seeing his name pop up on this list. There are some things to like about him this week. He may get Alshon Jeffery back this week and that should help. Jeffery is most definitely an impact player.

This week he gets a matchup against a Lions team that has struggled in every which way. They are also one of the worst pass defenses in the league. The lions are one of just 3 teams that have allowed 15 plus points in every game this season. So if you need a QB, this is a plus matchup to consider.

Joe Flacco-Ravens

He has the ability to push the ball down the field. He may have Steve Smith in the lineup which always helps. This week they play the 49ers, I’m not too concerned about their pass defense and I’m expecting Flacco to hit some targets down the field in this one. Even without Smith, Flacco should be able to move the ball on these guys.

SIT

Matthew Stafford-Lions

The matchup on paper is good, however, the Bears have looked good as a team over the past couple of weeks. And Jay Ratliff is back on the defensive line which will give this defense a little extra push. The Bears defense has been competitive this year and I see no reason to believe they won’t play well against this offense.

The Lions offense has been atrocious. A big part of that is some really inept play by Stafford. Going over his tape, it’s just a highlight reel of bad decisions.

Andy Dalton-Bengals

He has gotten off to a hot start this year. After 5 games, he has thrown 11 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions. If https://goingfor2.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=8803&action=edityou have another QB on your roster it would be wise to start them.
This week he gets a matchup against the Buffalo Bills. They have a front 4 that can really get after the QB. They will play from a spread offense to limit how much pressure the Bills can get. I’m not expecting that to be enough to slow this defense. Bench Dalton this week.

Running Backs

START

Giovani Bernard-Bengals

Like I said earlier, one of the ways the Bengals will try to limit this Bills defense will be by running a spread formation. More than likely, that will mean GIO is the RB and he will have many chances to catch balls. He Bills defense will encourage the check down by getting to Dalton.

This is definitely a tough matchup. I wouldn’t expect him to get anything on the ground, but, he could certainly be a recipient of some of these short passes we will be seeing. He should see 10+ targets in the passing game.
In PPR leagues, you can start him, in standard leagues you can’t.

C.J Anderson– Broncos

I know, I know, there is no way you can start this guy and feel good. Think of this as his final chance to impress you. He gets a matchup against a Browns defense that has been dominated by RBs.

The Browns allow over 5.5 yards a carry and just under 32 points per game to RBs. The only downer here is that he has to share this great matchup with Ronnie Hillman. He isn’t listed on the injury report, so you can expect to see a healthy dose of him.

Chris Ivory-Jets

There is no secret to it, to open the season Chris Ivory has been the driving force for this offense. I’m expecting the jets ground and pound game plan to remain the same as it has worked to this point.

They get a matchup against the Redskins this week. This is a solid matchup for Chris Ivory to make noise. The Redskins are allowing 4 YPC to opposing running backs.

It’s safe to assume that the Jets are going to lead this game throughout. We should see plenty of Chris Ivory as a result of that.

Shane Vereen-Giants

His tenure with the Giants has gotten off to a rocky start. He looked good to open the season, then fell off the map. Last week he returned to relevancy catching 8 balls.
He gets a decent matchup against the Eagles this week, as receiving backs have found success against them catching just under 7 passes a game.

SIT

Jeremy Hill-Bengals

Man has this just been a frustrating season for Jeremy Hill owners. It seems like no matter what he does, he just can’t get going. I don’t see the breakaway speed I saw last year. He has become almost useless between the 20s and if he doesn’t score 2 touchdowns he is lucky to see double-digit fantasy points.

This week could be one of those weeks where we see his snap total dip to dangerously low levels. Once again, against the Bills, the Bengals will spread the ball out, keeping Hill off the field.

If you have to start him, get ready for another Sunday praying they get close enough for Jeremy Hill to fall into the endzone.

Duke Johnson JR-Browns

I know we all wanna jump on the Duke Johnson hype train and I’m okay with that, he is a very talented player. This might be a good week to get off the Hype express, as it’s going to stop in Denver.

Let me tell you something about Denver. They have a defense that isn’t showing up to play a game, they are showing up to fight a war. You have to be really desperate, or just getting too cute, to start anyone who isn’t matchup proof against this defense.

Wide receivers

START

Eric Decker-Jets

He is going to draw the lesser CB since he plays across from Marshall. The matchup is nice too, it’s been a while since anyone has feared the Redskins, so get your Jets fired up. Furthermore, this secondary is banged up, things should go well for Decker this week.

Anquan Boldin– 49ers

He certainly looked good last week, as he had a monster game. There is a good chance those numbers carry into this week, with the Ravens next on the schedule.

The Ravens secondary has been ugly this year. They allow the 2nd most fantasy points in the league to opposing WRs.

SIT

Jarvis Landry-Dolphins

This isn’t a very good matchup for him, as he requires the volume to really get going. The Titans defense gives up only 8 catches a game to WRs.

The Targets will be there, but, the volume will not. It may be wise to look into other options this week.

T.Y Hilton-Colts
While the Patriots are a beatable defense on paper, if we dig deeper, we will find that they have Hilton’s number. They shut him down twice last year, including a game where he only registered 21 yards. The Pats have the reputation of neutralizing the other team’s biggest threat, it seems clear they have identified TY as the guy.

He is also banged up, with a hamstring injury and you can expect the Pats will be selling out to stop the pass. Since the Colts offensive line can’t make any room for the running game.

Tight Ends

START

Zach ErtzEagles

This is a good week to roll him out. The Giants have trouble guarding the middle of the field, evident by the fact that they have allowed the 4th most fantasy points to TEs on the season.

Derrick Carrier-Redskins

Yeah, the Jets are a scary matchup. Keep in mind that with the corners they have on the outside, the Redskins will be forced to move the ball down the center of this defense. It comes as no surprise to learn that’s really the only place offenses have found success against this defense.

SIT

Gary Barnidge-Browns

I know he has been on a tear lately and we want to start him every week, because, we don’t want to miss out on the points he has been producing every week.

This is a good week to sit him, as the Broncos will be waiting for him. They will be all over McCown, not allowing much room for mistakes.

Play it safe and sit him this week. He is far from matchup proof and he doesn’t play on a very good offense. The only plus in this
matchup is, the Browns should be getting killed, so they should pass a lot.
