Free NBA DFS Fanduel Advice and Analysis 1/8/16
What’s up, guys? Hope everyone had a good Fanduel night? As I write this, my games are still going on, but so far so good. We have nice 10 game slate today to work with, so there will be plenty of studs and values to work with. In fact, we have two Fanduel DFS articles today. Dennis awoke from his hibernation and put out a Value Vault for today’s slate, be sure to check it out. Everyone knows my format by now, but if not…
Game Winner My Game Winner will be my top play for the position.
Dunk A Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.
Half-Court Shot Otherwise known as a “punt play”.
Pass A player I will be avoiding.
So let’s get started…
NBA DFS Fanduel Lineup Advice and Analysis for 1/8/16
Point Guard
Game Winner Kyle Lowry, Raptors $9,000
Lowry has played out of his mind so far in this month. He is averaging 44 fanduel points in the month of January, and despite the Wizards defending the point guard fairly well, the Wizards, in general, are a mess right now. I could have gone with Russell Westbrook here, but I feel Lowry has the higher upside for his price tonight.
Dunk Michael Carter-Williams, Bucks $7,100
MCW has hit his stride over the last two weeks or so and he draws a great matchup tonight against the Mavericks. Because of his slow start to the season, his price is still lower than his current production, so jump on it now before he goes over 8k.
Half-Court Shot Goran Dragic, Heat $5,600
Revenge game alert! This will be Dragic’s second meeting with the Suns since being forced to play the shooting guard next to Eric Bledsoe, and eventually forcing the Suns to trade him to the Heat, but this will be his first time playing them in Phoenix. Dragic has shown more of a willingness to look for his own shot recently, and I’m expecting him to come out very aggressive. The Suns look like a team that has given up on the season and their coach, so there is some blowout potential, but the former Sun will still play enough minutes to reach value.

Pass Damian Lillard, Blazers $8,900
Lillard has played well in his return to the lineup after missing some games to injury, but a matchup with the Golden State Warriors is going to keep me away from him tonight. I don’t feel as strongly with this “Pass” as I normally do because Lillard has played well against them before, but his price tag and bad matchup on a large slate make him avoidable.
Shooting Guard
Game Winner DeMar DeRozan, Raptors $8,000
I went back and forth between DeDe and Klay Thompson, but ultimately decided on DeRozan based solely on his last game against the Wizards when he had 53.7 fanduel points. You can go either way with these guys, and maybe you base your pick on whether you’re going to use Kyle Lowry as your PG or not?
Dunk Monta Ellis, Pacers $6,200
Ellis hasn’t been amazing for the Pacers, but he has been solid and consistent. He has a great matchup with the Pelicans tonight, a team that couldn’t beat the Dallas reserves the other night when Dallas rested four of their five starters.
Half-Court Shot Devin Booker, Suns $3900
This pick is a bit risky because the Heat are a good defensive team, but I’m basing my choice on three variables; his low price tag, potential junk time minutes, and who else is going to score? While the Suns veteran players may have mailed in the season, Booker doesn’t have that luxury, he is going to have to prove himself with Eric Bledsoe gone for the season.
Pass Kobe Bryant, Lakers $6,900
Three words. “Back to Back”. That is all.
Small Forward
Game Winner Paul George, Pacers $8,800
His price continues to drop, and with a great matchup with the Pelicans, I think I’ll take a chance on him again. It seems every time I roster him he has an off game, but at $8,800 the value is there as he has 50-plus fantasy point potential, which I’m expecting him to flirt with tonight.
Dunk Khris Middleton, Bucks $6,900
Middleton has been a little hot and cold over his last four games, but it has kept his price in a good mid-range area. The Mavericks are middle of the pack against the small forward and shooting guard position, both of which Middleton will play at times, but he is one of the Bucks best offensive threats and he will find a way to hit value tonight.
Half-Court Shot None
Nothing I like down here. Pay up.
Pass Carmelo Anthony, Knicks $8,800
The San Antonio Spurs effect here. He has only had 31 fanduel points against them earlier in the year.
Power Forward
Game Winner Anthony Davis, Pelicans $10,400
I cringe every time I roster Davis expecting him to get hurt or forget that he is a dominant player and disappear from the game for long stretches, but his ceiling is higher than anyone on tonight’s slate and for that reason alone he will be hard to fade. He is a cash game “must start”.
Dunk Chris Bosh, Heat $8,000
I normally look a little lower on the price range for my Dunk of the night, but there isn’t a lot of mid-range value that I really like, so Bosh it is. He has 40-plus fanduel point potential at a modest price tag and a great matchup with the awful Suns. What more could you want?
Half-Court Shot Larry Nance Jr., Lakers $4,300
He has been on my values list for about a week and he hasn’t disappointed yet. His price tag is rising, but it’s not to a point that I’m avoiding him. There will be some junk time minutes in this one and some time to pad his stats maybe.
Pass Kristaps Porzingis, Knicks $6,200
Another player I don’t like simply because he is playing the Spurs. I’m avoiding all Knicks players tonight.
Center
Game Winner Brook Lopez, Nets $8,700
Excluding the Celtic’s game, Lopez has been a beast lately with four of his last five games going over 40 fanduel points, including a 59 point effort versus the same Magic team he’ll see tonight. There aren’t any reasons I can see not to roster him tonight.
Dunk Zaza Pachulia, Mavs $6,700
This guy has become a walking double-double for the Mavs and coming off a rest day with a good matchup against the Bucks means he will probably get another one. He has six straight games with 32 or more fanduel points, and there is no reason he can’t do that or better tonight.
Half-Court Shot Jonas Valanciunas, Raptors $5,900
He has seen his minutes slowly increase since coming back from injury and worked his way up into the 30’s in his last game. Having not played since Wednesday, I expect he will be in for a full complement of minutes, which for a player of his caliber, getting 30-plus minutes and only priced at $5,900, where do I sign up?
Pass Nikola Vucevic, Magic $7,400
His recent production is what has me scared to roster Vuc, not to mention a tough matchup with Brook Lopez. There are better options.
The 6th Man
(additional players I like)
- SG Klay Thompson $7,800
- SF LeBron James $9,900
- PF Draymond Green $9,700
- PF Thad Young $7,100
- C Marcin Gortat $6,900
- PG Tyreke Evans $7,600
- PG Mario Chalmers $4,900
