Free NFL DFS Fan Picks Lineup Advice for Week 7
NFLThere is a ton of DFS articles out there helping you guys out with big sites such as Fanduel and Draft Kings, but what about the smaller ones? Well, today I’ve got the article for you! I’m going to be covering a new, up and coming site called FanPicks.com. Just like the above-mentioned sites, it’s a daily fantasy sports site that brings you all types of football, basketball, baseball etc. types of DFS contests. I’m hoping with this article I can better introduce you all to Fan Picks and hope that you will give it a shot for your Week 7 daily fantasy football fun!
So, let’s get started:
MVP: In reality the MVP is the best player at their given sport. This will be my overall favorite player at each position. I’ll look at his season stats, defensive matchup, recent performances and his career history versus this week’s opponent.
Value Pick: A value pick will be a player who has the potential to be a middle priced guy who could outperform the MVP style players.
Punt Play: This is a widely used term in the DFS world. This will be a player who will be low-owned in the larger tournaments, but will be a high-risk play.
Bust Candidate: This will be a potential top-rated player who I believe will have a down week. I’ll take a look at their recent performances and defensive matchup.
Quarterbacks
MVP: Carson Palmer, Cardinals ($6,900)
Palmer has been one of the most consistent fantasy quarterbacks of the 2015 season. In Week 7, he draws a very tasty matchup against a Baltimore Ravens team, who rank 32nd at defending against opposing quarterbacks, allowing an average of 26.0 fantasy points per game. Lower-tier quarterbacks such as Colin Kaepernick have had successful fantasy weeks against these guys and Palmer gets to play them at home.
Value Pick: Cam Newton, Panthers ($6,800)
Newton is a dual-threat style of player who always has the potential to have a monster fantasy week. I know that the Eagles absolutely shut down the Giants in Week 6, but I think that had more to do with the Giants pitiful offense. Newton should be able to continue putting together solid performances versus the Eagles this week, making him a nice option for DFS.
Punt Play: Brian Hoyer, Texans ($5,500)
The first thing you need to look at with Hoyer is the offensive weapons he has by his side. He has the number one fantasy receiver in the NFL in DeAndre Hopkins and the great Arian Foster on his side. Hoyer will face a Miami Dolphins defense who have massively underachieved this season in what could be a shootout of a game. The Dolphins allow an average of 20.3 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, making Hoyer a solid value play on Sunday.

Bust Candidate: Eli Manning, Giants ($7,000)
This will be Manning’s second matchup versus the Cowboys this season. In his first game versus Dallas, he threw for just 193 yards and no touchdowns. It’s now Week 7 and the Cowboys’ defense has improved even more with the addition of Greg Hardy and Rolando McClain. Coming off a bad MNF game versus the Eagles, I don’t see Manning fairing very well in Week 7.
Running backs
MVP: Latavius Murray, Raiders ($6,100)
Murray could be a lower owned player in Week 7 due to his recent struggles over the last few weeks. He is coming off a bye week and draws a very good matchup against the San Diego Chargers. This season, the Chargers allow an average of 26.9 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. I see this game being a higher scoring affair with tons of potential for Murray to get us all solid fantasy numbers. With a $6,100 price tag, you can’t pass the guy up!
Value Pick: Todd Gurley ($5,200)
Get Gurley this cheap while you can because he won’t be like this for long! In just the few games that he’s played in this year, Gurley has averaged right at 150 rushing yards per game. He has an amazingly good matchup this week versus the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are the 3rd worst team this season at defending against the rush, allowing an average of 129 rushing yards per game. Gurley is going to have a massive week in your DFS lineup!
Punt Play: Frank Gore, Colts ($5,000)
Gore hasn’t been the best option at running back this season, but he’s been fairly consistent. Like the other players in this list, he draws an ultra-favorable matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Just look at what Devonta Freeman did against the Saints in Week 6… He rushed for 100 yards, caught eight passes for 56 yards and two total touchdowns. I don’t think Gore will put up these kinds of stats, but he will be a nice value play on Sunday.
Bust Candidate: Justin Forsett, Ravens ($5,900)
Forsett has finally started to become more involved in the Marc Trestman offense in Baltimore. The problem for him in Week 7 is that he draws an Arizona defense who rank 6th at defending against the run. We’re talking about a Cardinals defense who contained the best running back in the league last week in Le’Veon Bell. Let your opponents buy into Forsett’s recent success and spend your money elsewhere on one of the other players that I’ve listed.
Wide Receivers
MVP: DeAndre Hopkins, Texans ($8,700)
If you pick Hoyer as your quarterback, Hopkins would be an amazing option to stack with him. We’re talking about the best fantasy wideout in the league who is getting a boatload of targets every single week. Hopkins is on pace to have over 2,000 receiving yards for the 2015 season and I don’t see him slowing down this week against a Dolphins defense who just hasn’t been very impressive.
Value Pick: John Brown, Cardinals ($5,900)
You’re probably starting to see a pattern here… Pick one of the above quarterbacks and grab one of his receiving options to play with him. If you’ve played DFS games before you know it’s always a good idea to have a solid quarterback/wide receiver combo and the Palmer/Brown connection is a great one for Week 7. Brown has been such a consistent option this year at wideout and I don’t see things changing this week versus the Baltimore Ravens who rank 31st at defending wide receivers. Play him with confidence this Week!
Punt Play: Willie Snead, Saints ($5,000)
Snead has quickly become a valuable lower-tier fantasy option. He will face off against a Colts defense who has one of the better cornerbacks in the league in Vontae Davis. But, Snead won’t be defended by Davis, that’ll be Brandin Cooks task for the week. Drew Brees will be able to move the ball versus the Colts secondary and Snead will be the one who gets all of the targets.
Bust Candidate: Allen Robinson, Jaguars ($6,500)
I’ve loved Robinson all year long, but he’s just not a good option for DFS in Week 7. First of all, he was injured last week with a bruised knee, so that may slow him down a bit. Robinson also draws a Bills defense who recently shut A.J. Green down in Week 6. Also, he will be playing overseas in London, England, where travel could factor into a poor overall week for Robinson.
Tight Ends
MVP: Antonio Gates, Chargers ($5,500)
You can’t beat that cheap price for a top tier talent like Gates. Last week, Philip Rivers threw the ball 65 times and 16 of those targets went to Gates. If Rivers throws half as much this week against the worst defense against tight ends in the Oakland Raiders, then it’ll be another nice fantasy week for Gates. I truly believe that he will be the top play come week’s end and will hopefully be a guy who helps you to DFS glory.
Value Pick: Jason Witten, Cowboys ($5,000)
Coming off a bye week with a new quarterback in Matt Cassel, Witten could be a sneaky play this week. Back in Week 1, Witten was able to torch the Giants with eight catches for 60 yards and two touchdowns. I know, I know in Week 1 he had veteran Tony Romo as his quarterback, but if he can produce even half of these numbers, he’ll be a solid value play this week. Also, new quarterbacks within an offense always seem to rely on the tight end as their safety blanket.
Punt Play: Ben Watson, Saints ($3,300)
Everyone witnessed Watson have a monster game on TNF last week where he caught 10 passes for 127 yards and a score. Will he have a similar week? It’s possible against a Colts team who are in the middle of the pack versus tight ends this season. I believe that the game between the Saints and Colts is going to be a close, high-scoring affair, so there’s no reason why Watson can’t grab five receptions for 60 yards and a score.
Bust Candidate: Gary Barnidge, Browns ($5,000)
I have been one of the guys who hasn’t jumped on the Barnidge hype train this year. Yes, the guy has come out of nowhere and produced some very good fantasy numbers this season, but the ride has to end sometime right? This week he’ll face off against a stout St. Louis Rams defense who just a few weeks ago held Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in check. The Rams are the 9th ranked defense at defending against tight ends in 2015, so stay away from Barnidge.
Defense
MVP: Arizona Cardinals ($3,225)
It’s becoming an obvious trend that I have the Cardinals having an overall dominant Week 7 for DFS. The best part about Arizona is that they are for some reason the cheapest option at defense on FanPicks, so why wouldn’t you start them. They also get the Ravens at home who just haven’t been that good this year at all.
Value Pick: Atlanta Falcons ($4,900)
The Falcons have had a solid fantasy defense all season long. I love their matchup in Week 7 because they will be playing a Tennessee Titans team who will be without their starting quarterback Marcus Mariota. This game will be a blowout in the Falcons favor, so if you want a higher priced for sure pick at defense, they’re your team.
Punt Play: Dallas Cowboys ($5,300)
The salary for the defenses is a little bit weird here. Dallas doesn’t have a bad defense, but they also aren’t better than the previous two teams I’ve covered here. The Cowboys have big play potential this week, though, with a matchup against a Giants team who just put up a real fantasy stinker versus the Eagles. I see Greg Hardy wreaking havoc on New York this week!
Bust Candidate: Kansas City Chiefs ($6,700)
I think a lot of your opponents will see that the Chiefs are playing a Steelers team who are running a third string quarterback onto the field in Week 7. Steelers quarterback Landry Jones actually looked a million times better than Michael Vick last week, leading Pittsburgh to victory. The Chiefs actually have the worst secondary in the league and I completely see the Steelers dominating them in Week 7.
Other solid options:
Philip Rivers ($6,900)
Devonta Freeman ($8,500)
Mark Ingram ($6,500)
Julio Jones ($9,000)
Martavis Bryant ($5,300)
Greg Olsen ($6,500)
Carolina Panthers Defense ($6,400)
