Free NFL DFS FanPicks Advice for Week 13

Alright, GF2 fans, it’s time for my weekly free NFL DFS FanPicks advice! Week 13 is the beginning of a lot of your season-long fantasy leagues, but for us daily players it’s just another one to win some cash. I had a decent Week 12, hitting mostly with my head-to-head matchups playing guys such as Brian Hoyer and Odell Beckham. Hopefully, I can bring you all some luck this week, so let’s get started.

Here’s my free NFL DFS FanPicks advice for Week 13:

728X90 Static

MVP: In reality the MVP is the best player at their given sport. This will be my overall favorite player at each position. I’ll look at his season stats, defensive matchup, recent performances and his career history versus this week’s opponent.

Value Pick: A value pick will be a player who has the potential to be a middle priced guy who could outperform the MVP style players.

Punt Play: This is a widely used term in the DFS world. This will be a player who will be low-owned in the larger tournaments, but will be a high-risk play.

Bust Candidate: This will be a potential top-rated player who I believe will have a down week. I’ll take a look at their recent performances and defensive matchup.

Quarterbacks

MVP: Cam Newton, vs. Saints ($7,400)

I wanted to put Tom Brady here versus the horrible Eagles defense, but I’m just not sure if he’s going to have anyone to throw the ball to. I decided Newton was a great option playing against an equally bad New Orleans pass defense. This season, the Saints rank 32nd versus opposing quarterbacks, allowing an average of 28.0 fantasy points per contest. I think the Panthers are going to absolutely demolish this Saints squad, so Cam will be the best DFS play of the week.

Value Pick: Ryan Fitzpatrick, vs. Giants ($5,500)

Fitzpatrick is most likely going to be my go-to guy this week for DFS purposes. He’s had a solid season thus far and looked very good during the Jets Week 12 game versus Miami. This year, the Giants rank 31st at defending against quarterbacks, allowing an average of 24.9 fantasy points per contest. As long as top receiving options Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are ready to go, then Fitzpatrick will contain a ton of value for this week’s slate.

Punt Play: Brock Osweiler, vs. Chargers ($5,500)

If you’re not into playing Fitzpatrick this week, Osweiler may be more up your alley. Last week versus the Patriots, Osweiler threw for 270 yards and a touchdown, which isn’t his best effort, but I believe in the kid. He’ll face off against a beatable Chargers defense for Week 13 where I think Denver is going to ride a wave of momentum and destroy San Diego. Osweiler has a ton of upside but could easily disappoint you all, so tread carefully.

Bust Candidate: Philip Rivers, vs. Broncos ($7,000)

I absolutely love Rivers for fantasy purposes, but this week I wouldn’t touch him with a ten-foot pole! He’s facing off against the top-ranked Broncos pass defense who allows just 16.5 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Let your opponents buy into Rivers’ big Week 12 performance and spend your money elsewhere for a different signal caller in Week 13.

Running Backs

MVP: Matt Forte, Bears ($6,400)

So, Forte finally returned to the field during Week 12 and looked healthy overall. Now I’m confident in him for this week where he draws an extra tasty matchup in the 49ers. This season, San Francisco ranks 28th at defending against opposing running backs, allowing an average of 22.8 fantasy points per contest. I am a bit worried that Jeremy Langford will cut into some of his snaps, but with a mid-range price tag, I’m going to roll with Forte for Week 13.

Value Pick: DeAngelo Williams, Steelers ($5,600)

I can’t believe how cheap Williams is for this Week 13 slate! He’s an absolute steal and has a super nice matchup! Williams will be facing off against a Colts defense who ranks 24th overall this year versus opposing running backs. Williams will be without a doubt in all of my FanPicks lineups this week.

Punt Play: Javorius Allen, Ravens ($4,300)

For the second week in a row, Allen draws a nice matchup. This week, the Ravens face off against the Dolphins, who rank 29th this season versus the run. Miami’s overrated defense just can’t stop the run in 2015, so I’ll roll the dice with Allen.

Bust Candidate: Mark Ingram, vs. Panthers ($6,200)

After the beatdown the Panthers handed my Cowboys on Thanksgiving, I’m just not confident in starting any DFS players against them. This season, Carolina ranks 10th overall at defending against opposing running backs, making Ingram a sit candidate for Week 13. Even though I’m a huge Ingram supporter, I’d stray away from him this week!

Wide Receivers

MVP: Julio Jones, vs. Buccaneers ($9,200)

There is a ton of great matchups for the top receivers this week! Just throw their names in a hat and pick one! I went with Jones this week who is facing off against a Tampa Bay defense who ranks 22nd overall versus opposing wideouts. The Buccaneers got thrown all over during their Week 12 matchup against the 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck, so Matt Ryan should at least be able to do something, right?

Value Pick: Brandon Marshall, vs. Giants ($6,900)

Marshall doesn’t have quite an epic matchup this week as I’d normally like for my value pick, but it’ll do. I had to choose someone to stack with Fitzpatrick, so Marshall gets the nod from me for this slate. This season, the Giants rank 18th versus opposing wide receivers, so I see Marshall having potentially a nice week.

Punt Play: Brandon LaFell, vs. Eagles ($4,400)

LaFell hasn’t done a lot for the Patriots since returning to the field this season, but with Rob Gronkowski potentially sitting out and Julian Edelman out until the end of the year, someone has to catch the ball. This week, the Patriots will face off against a disgustingly bad Eagles defense who ranks 32nd overall against opposing quarterbacks, allowing an average of 29.7 fantasy points per contest.

Bust Candidate: Mike Evans, vs. Falcons ($7,000)

Evans has been one of my favorite DFS plays over the last couple of weeks. I hate this matchup for him honestly and truly believe he will have a rough Week 13. Evans will be facing off against a surprisingly good Falcons pass defense who rank 2nd overall this season. I would much rather choose one of the Jets top receivers this week for DFS purposes.

Tight Ends

MVP: Greg Olsen, vs. Saints ($6,000)

Well, with Gronk most likely sitting out this week, Olsen is easily the number one choice at tight end. He’ll be playing a pitiful Saints defense who ranks dead last at defending against opposing tight ends. Like I said earlier, the Panthers are going to destroy this New Orleans team.

Value Pick: Jacob Tamme, vs. Buccaneers ($3,500)

I don’t love the matchup, but for his price tag it’ll do. If Leonard Hankerson once again sits out for Atlanta, Tamme should see plenty of targets. Any game that Hankerson has sat out this season, Tamme has been a lot more productive.

Punt Play: Coby Fleener, vs. Steelers ($3,300)

Even though Pittsburgh has had a top-ten defense this season, they still can’t defend well versus tight ends. They rank 28th overall this year versus the position, so Fleener does hold some value. Plus, Hasselbeck seems to like the guy, so that’s a positive.

Bust Candidate: Antonio Gates, vs. Broncos ($5,000)

Just like I stated earlier with Rivers, the same rule applies to Gates. Let your opponents see those big Week 12 fantasy totals and play him. You guys look elsewhere because I just don’t see Rivers having enough time to get him the ball.

Defenses

MVP: Arizona Cardinals, vs. Rams ($3,500)

Arizona has been one of my favorite defenses to stream this year and I’ll continue that trend this week. Anytime you’re facing off against Nick Foles and the Rams, you have a shot for plenty of turnover opportunities.

Value Pick: Steelers, vs. Colts ($3,000)

I’m still waiting for that bad game from Matt Hasselbeck, maybe it’s this week! The Steelers have a nice price tag, so it’s worth a try.

Punt Play: Dolphins, vs. Ravens ($2,200)

I’ve bashed this Miami defense plenty of times this year, but this week I just don’t care about how bad they’ve been! Going up against interception prone Matt Schaub is enough of a reason for me to stream them this week.

Bust Candidate: Rams, vs. Cardinals ($3,000)

The Rams have been a decent defense to play for DFS this season, but I don’t like this matchup. The Cardinals offense has been ultra-tough to stop this season, so I’m not gambling with St.Louis for Week 13.
