MLB DraftKings Lineup Advice 5/25/15 by RotoTrick
Top Pitching Options
Tyson Ross (DK – $9500) – After a few days with several aces, there are no truly elite options, but Tyson Ross is the top option. Ross has not been a very high upside pitcher on the year, only surpassing 20 DraftKings points twice (but consistent in hitting double digits each time), likely due to his lack of control and high walk rate of 12.5% (4th highest amongst pitchers on the day). However, the Angels are not a patient team, only walking 6.5% of the time for 24th in MLB vs. RHP. Besides the walks, Ross has very good numbers on the year with a 3.41 SIERA and 26.7% K rate. The angels have the 2nd worst wOBA vs. RHP at 0.278, which should lead to a very solid day for Ross.
Brett Anderson (DK – $7000) – Anderson offers a nice mid-priced option in a great spot. Anderson has pitched well this year, with a 3.03 SIERA (tops for all pitchers today) and a strong 5.1% walk rate. While his strikeout rate is low at 17.5%, his K rate has picked up in his last two outings with 7 and 8 strikeouts in each. He also takes on a Braves team that strikes out at a 22.9% rate vs. LHH, in addition to their 0.280 wOBA (27th and 26th respectively on the day). At -200, he’s the biggest favorite of the day and should return great value
Joe Kelly (DK $6000) – If you’re looking for a cheap pitcher on DraftKings with solid upside, Kelly is a great option. Kelly has a solid 3.95 SIERA and 21.2% strikeout rate on the year. Kelly also has an elite matchup against the Twins, who struggle against RHP – 0.283 wOBA (27th in MLB) and a 23.4% K rate (28th). He’s also a decent favorite at -125, which is a bonus for this price. All that being said, he has struggle himself at times and is a risky option – best suited for GPPs.
Top Hitting Options
Joey Votto (DK – $4800) – As usual, there are lots of great options at 1B (Rizzo and Hosmer are two), but Votto is one of the best options as he and the Reds get one of the worst pitchers in baseball in Eddie Butler. Of all the pitchers on today’s slate, Butler is bottom 5 in SIERA (5.59), WHIP (1.89), K% (12.4%) and BB% (14.1%). In addition, he gives up a 0.437 wOBA to LHH and Votto is the Reds’ elite LHH. Votto boasts a 0.386 wOBA and 0.245 ISO vs. RHP and should be in for a big day.
Joc Pederson (DK – $4400) – Although he went 0-3 with 3 Ks and a BB on Sunday, that was against James Shields and Joc gets Williams Perez on Monday. His price is back up now (hope you played him for $3700 when we recommended him), but the matchup is so tasty it’s still worth it. Perez gives up a 0.419 wOBA and 0.636 SLG to LHH. And Joc has absolutely crushed RHP on the year with a 0.432 wOBA and 0.375 ISO (and no small sample at 141 PAs). Put him in your lineup and rock out to the Joc Jams (yeah I said it).
Nick Hundley (DK – $3600) – Hundley has been one of the Rockies most consistent hitters against RHP and on the road. On the year, he sports a 0.399 wOBA and 0.216 ISO against RHP and while the game isn’t at Coors, Hundley still has a .281 batting average and 0.303 wOBA on the road, so should still be able to produce in this nice matchup. Jason Marquis is alsways a pitcher we like to target against, as he gives up a 0.477 wOBA to RHH and a total of 7 HRs on the year. At a reasonable price in the catcher spot, he’s a great target.

Chris Colabello (DK – $3400) – His price has come up, so he’s not the bargain he once was, which might make people shy away. However, he’s got another great matchup and hits in the heart of the order of one of the best offenses in baseball and is facing a weak pitcher. Noesi has struggled against RHH with a 0.447 wOBA. Noesi also has a 2.04 HR/9 rate, which could be a disaster against the Blue Jays. With Colabello’s 0.406 wOBA on the year vs. RHP, he should continue his strong play for another game at still a reasonable price.
